while they're not really a band known for a ton of exciting vinyl variants, i'm really intrigued to see what they do for the vinyl for this album. that green is gonna pop super nicely on the jacket.
They've reached a point where I just presume they'll never make an album that I won't, at the very least, like a lot. Although now I've said that, the new song will probably be Mein-tier.
I tell you a song Abe rules on that no one talks about — Sextape. So cool that he comes in playing just the hi-hat and snare and doesn't play the kick drum till Chino starts the next verse. Perfection the way he subtly ramps it up as it heads towards the chorus.
Fred was only a touring bassist since he joined, but since he’s featured in the images they dropped this week (and he was tagged in them), I think he may actually be official now.
A lot of Diamond Eyes feels like an updated sequel to White Pony (complimentary), which is part of why I love it so much, but "Prince" in particular REALLY feels like a continuation of "Rx Queen" (again, complimentary)
Sorry, meant that for the general thread but since we're all in here revisiting the discog anyways, I'll leave it
"976-EVIL" is such a gorgeous song. "Sextape" gets all the love, but 976 deserves a little more. Feels like one of their most effortless in terms of blending atmosphere, melody, and huge riffs.
I often think of Diamond Eyes into Koi No Yokan as the complementary sequel to Around The Fur into White Pony. ATF and DE — a little heavier, instant, more compact and made to play live. WP and KNY — connected but more expansive and sprawling; heavy but with more room to breathe.
