"infinite source"...are you kidding me everything about this album feels so warm and, for lack of a better word, optimistic. they legitimately sound rejuvenated
I don't even know how to explain what "metal dreams" is. I guess the quality makes sense when you take into account, 1) they really haven't missed, and 2) at this point in their career, they know how to play the hits while pushing boundaries. Parts of this feel like an album that would have come between Diamond Eyes and KNY, other parts of it feels like Ohms with the production of S/T. Just awesome stuff that confirms how much I love them having Nick behind the boards
Trying to resist seeking out a leak as 48 hours is nothing at this point. Instead, I have to know something Does this album: A) slap? B) fuck? C) honk? D) rip? E) slay? F) heeft er zin? G) bop?
The two singles didn't do a lot for me. But Infinite Source is an instant repeat... maybe my favorite thing they've put out in over a decade? So often I feel like this band's songs are 1-2 good riffs or ideas that only get 70% fleshed out, sometimes with really bland filler sections that kill momentum. But IS absolutely soars through space for the whole runtime like the best stuff on SNW... glad they've still got it in them.
yeah this absolutely rocks. no shade to Gore or Ohms but this is the most immediate a deftones release has hit me since KNY
I love that Chino is doing some experimentation with his vocals on this. Crazy that we’re hearing truly NEW sounds on this band’s 10th album.
I say this with no disrespect to Sergio Vega but I noticed and appreciated the bass on this album more than I have on any Deftones album since S/T
Fred definitely shreds a little on this album. It was great to hear! I love how he opens #3. PS: Vega’s bass playing in Swerve City is incredible.
Ngl I was definitely expecting the bass to be a bit of an afterthought after Sergio got fired but Fred held it down.
