Love this album quite a bit. It’s only gotten better with time. Genesis and Error are two of the best songs they’ve ever done. I love Ceremony, Radiant City, and Headless a lot too. I mean, the bass on Radiant City? My god
Historically it would be. That’s what I was losing my mind when that song over summer was teased but ended up being fake. Why can’t I type without losing my keyboard?
Tbf, from what I remember they announced they were writing Ohms about 2 years after Gore came out, but then it took another 2 years for the album to actually materialise
I wonder what's next for them writing wise... are they going to remain a four piece in the studio? The bass has always been a crucial element in their music, and I don't really see Stephen or Chino filling Chi and Sergio's shoes.
They'll get a bassist, probably the guy who toured with them, I guess. Everything I've ever read about their songwriting process makes it seem like it's a pretty organic thing in the room. I don't see them writing songs and then just getting Stef to record bass parts. I saw Telefon Tel Aviv on Twitter a few months ago saying that he'd been trying to convince Chino to let him and The Haxan Cloak produce the next album. That would be interesting.
I threw Ohms on my hifi setup again last week and it blew my fucking face off. I think this is their most cohesive album and flows so well.
I can't believe this album is almost three years old. I hope they stick to their "new album every four years" schedule they've had for a while now and we get something new in 2024.
Next record’s gonna be so hype for them considering all the steam they’ve picked up with the kids in the last year or so
Tonight is the System of a Down/Deftones/TMV show in SF at Golden Gate Park. My friend is going and I’m very jealous but also don’t enjoy outdoor venues. Still will be cool to see pics and videos of it later.
Steph wasn't playing with them again. Concerning. I hope he recovers from whatever he's dealing with.
