i didn’t realize it would be a battle. this is the first time i’ve ever heard anyone say something positive about that band since like ... 2002 lol
Incubus is fine and so is Chevelle, I don't ever go back and listen to them but they played a big part in my growing music tastes as a kid, and I'd rather listen to them than a lot of the other stuff I listened to at the time.
I will concede, I'm about as big an incubus nerd as they come (have a tattoo, occasionally write a blog...) and even I think they've been incredibly patchy since the mid-2000's lol. That said, that turn of the century streak was a hell of a run.
who are you and where was i being hostile i said to love yourself. the literal opposite of hostility lol
The remix album is great, those who don't get its point or instantly think posting "the original is better!!!11" is an useful take can honestly choke. I do admit the Clams Casino song was disappointing, and kind of reminded me how much I don't care about his recent stuff. I guess I wish he'd made a remix in the early 2010's then. Tourist's one is my favorite. He killed it, and I should catch up on his newer albums.
I remember being moderately disappointed by Light Grenades in 06, because (similar to most of the other people repping Incubus in here) that turn of the millenium run was SO strong that my anticipation was sky high. They followed up ACLOTM with a track from some forgotten mid-00s movie that sounded like a leftover track from that record in a good way... (had to look it up - the track was called "Make a Move"), and then released "Anna Molly" as the lead single to Light Grenades. Then the full album came out and I just recall... NOT being blown away. There were some good tracks, absolutely, but that sort of set the tone for how I have felt about all new Incubus music for 14 years now. But hey I think I'm gonna go listen to Light Grenades today, because why not?!
"love hurts" is not a very good song but i think otherwise light grenades is sort of both the poppiest and subtly proggiest incubus record there is, hooks and sonics come together perfectly for me, it's my second fave after morning view
I saw you all ranking the Deftones albums so I was like I'm gonna listen to them all and rank them too. I made it through the first 4 albums and couldn't even put those in a ranking so I guess kudos to all for being able to even put any of them above the other one. ATF, White Pony, Self titled all are 10/10. Adrenaline is the only one I could put below any of those 3.
i know i should stop talking about incubus in the deftones thread but this is my favorite incubus song and i think showcases what a great band they are, on the level of interplay
Plz, this is one of the best threads on this site. Let's be nice to one another and keep it that way!
Been shuffling through some albums this weekend and Black Stallion is included in there. I can definitely take these remixes hearing them just individually moreso than taking it all in at once, it gets to be a bit overwhelming. Passenger is sticking out as a favorite for me now too... I saw some serious love/hate reactions, but I think Shinoda did a nice job with it.
Purity Ring remix is still so good, I love her voice on the track. Especially the "I could float here forever" part
With it being a remix album, I was concerned about if it was going to be good or not, but after hearing the whole thing, I'm very happy I purchased the vinyl set. It's going to take a while to fill out my Deftones vinyl collection, but this and "Ohms" are a good place to start!
So I couldn't rank the albums but I could boil down a list of my favorite songs whatever that means. I think if I go by this list then the self titled is my favorite album. around the fur battle-axe be quiet and drive (far away) Beauty School Cherry Waves dai the flu deathblow feiticeira Hearts/Wires hexagram korea lhabia mascara minerva needles and pins Ohms Prayers/Triangles Radiant City Rubicon Sextape street carp Swerve City when girls telephone boys Based on the number of songs off each album this is my list: ST, ATF, WP, Gore, DE, Ohms, SNW, KNY, Adrenaline
