my review will be ready tomorrow - just have had so much AM stuff to do this week on top of the personal life shit. hope you're excited for 1000 words on why Chino and Stef hate each other.
Giving a Deftones album an 8+ would be decidedly uncool and extremely not indie of Pitchfork. For that matter, so would listening to Chino on the dozens of occasions he has said "stop making the Steph thing bigger than it actually is"
he mentioned on indie cast the band asked him to do a write up for something else that im blanking on, so thats why
Oh it doesn't bother me, it's just funny to me that they even put the two albums on similar footing. Although given the lack of substance in the Ohms review I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Eh, I kind of agree with this being relatively similar to Gore in both style and quality (and not in a bad way!), but I know I might be in the minority there
"Welcome to Pitchfork, the site where everything's made up and the points don't matter. That's right, the points are like the last six Green Day albums."
I think the quality difference is like potentially my pick for second best vs second worst deftones record personally. I feel like they’ve kinda been doing the bright, melodic thing p consistently since at least DE, if not SNW, but also I feel like they finally really brought it back home and made it sound like “classic” Deftones in a way they haven’t since s/t here.
