This was my observation as well. I kept waiting for one of those tracks to come up. As much as I love them, I kind of like how this works
It's not actually in the lyrics, that line goes 'Locked in the core of the tower, I'm patient, in no hurry to leave'.
Man this thing grooves so hard. Abe, Sergio, and Frank are all at the top of their game here. Chino and Stephen too of course but the drums, bass, and synth textures really stand out to me.
I definitely heard some Glassjaw in that song too, like in the very few moments where either Sergio or Stef (both?) does some kind of slide down very quicky. Felt right out of Material Control.
I'm that enamored with this album that I can already see it dethrone Koi No Yokan as the #3 in my top 3.
I feel like it has his most... idk, coherent? messaging ever. I haven’t delved in enough but it seems like he’s branching out from the more impressionistic thing he kinda has always done.
I agree. whilst the lyrics are still very cryptic (as they always will be, I'm sure) he seems to be letting us more into how he really feels here as opposed to something like White Pony where all the lyrics are so impersonal songs like Pompeji or This Link Is Dead seem to come from a very personal place
we’re entirely insane, they claim yet they’d like to violate our brain waves words seriously cannot describe how it feels when I hear this hook. absolute classic deftones moment.
I feel like Chino plays guitar on Pompeji and This Link Is Dead but probably not much or not at all when it comes to the rest of the album?

3 listens in and Genesis still remains me favorite, The Spell of Mathematics is 2nd. Radiant City might round out my top 3? They definitely all have parts that make me go "oh yea this is the dope shit"
Have they ever played an album in full? A la anniversary shows? I’m apparently a really bad fan for not knowing this I just realized...
