I dunno, I’ve revisited their discography before Ohms dropped and I found myself listening to SNW and S/T much more than Gore but that’s just my preference though.
Funny you say that given in a recent interview it was implied that Nick R. sort of checked out on KNY. Makes a lot of sense.
Just going on record to say I'm absolutely floored by how fucking good this album is. This was everything I wanted from them and I didn't even know I wanted it. Bravo Deftones. This shot to the top half of my favorite 2020 albums instantly.
Just finished my first listen, excellent album once again. The quality is so consistently top-tier throughout that I am struggling to pick any clear favourites - Ohms is such a cool closer, Genesis such a cool opener, Headless' clean guitars reminded me of some of my favs from Diamond Eyes, Radiant City such a badass intro too, so on and so on! Incredible band; best metal band in the world for me by a long way!
Deftones talk new album 'Ohms' - Triple M Rock - Omny.fm Chino discussing the making of the album. Really cool to hear.
when I heard that for the first time my immediate thought was “I feel like I have been waiting to hear these words screamed like this my whole life”
this is the most well-integrated the different sides of their sound have ever been. there's no moment on on this album where the riffs clear out for something meditative and pretty like "entombed" or "sextape," it's just crushing and beautiful in countervailing waves, all the time. i think they had a real breakthrough recording this. it's early, but... man, this is def my third favorite after kny and white pony
i guess one point toward the people who think "error" starts off as a nu-metal throwback jam is that it's absolutely the first thing they've written since white pony where i've thought "this could be on white pony"
I think I’m in the same boat. I honestly wasn’t sure anything could top the original Terry Date 4 for me but this is making a very strong case.
I don't know how true it is - I know some posters on the VC boards mentioned emails being sent to a few about the delay.
