I think it might be hard for some people to get into maybe because they've kind of mastered the quiet/loud dynamics to the point where they never go too extreme in either direction. there are pretty moments and there are really loud aggressive moments but it definitely feels purposeful in not letting it veer too far either way
Hey there. Don't judge it so early. Maybe you will feel the same later but I would bet you won't. Let it breath.
I only heard the song once in the car this morning and I’ve still been singing “I’m leaving you toniiiiiiight” to myself all day
Headless is the unsung hero here. Record really hits its stride for me after the midsong transition in Error and goes hard the rest of the way, even if Ohms feels a little out of place
KNY and Self Titled, love everything between White Pony and KNY though this is my fourth listen, I still feel this way. if there's a band I listen to very intensively, it's them. some people in /r/deftones had similar feelings. people are calling this aggressive, whereas I think it's sluggish as hell. someone in this thread made a comparison to Smashing Pumpkins. I agree, but I don't think that works for their sound here at all. I don't even think this is their most aggressive album.
this is at least as heavy as diamond eyes, which i consider to be one of their heaviest especially since the turn of the century.
Very sure. For what it's worth I do think this is better than Gore. Especially the production, which was *horrible* on Gore.
I'm clearly the outlier here. I'm glad it's clicking for y'all! Luckily we have a band that has like six absolute bangers to their name before this, so there's no shortage of this band to go back and listen to. I really really really wanted to like this, but I'm just not remotely hearing the same album, especially the aggressiveness. :/
