I couldn't resist waiting any longer. This is fantastic. So much to say but first... HOLY SHIT @ This Link Is Dead! For once, the early description was spot on because this does feel like one of their heaviest songs ever. The (harmonized!) dissonance at the forefront isn't something that I recall them doing before. It sounds so o(h)minous, in a S/T or Rapture way, which is exactly my catnip. What a dark banger. And just when I thought I could recover with a lighter offering, Sergio's galloping bassline on Radiant City comes in and floores me. That one barely lets up too. There are some weird but catchy riffs on this thing! I can already imagine the Around The Fur fans be pleased by the vibe exuded at times here. Pompeji made me teary-eyed. This song is monumental. I hate to have to throw Gore under the bus for this opinion but... yeah Ohms is much much much better in every single way. It sounds like a band firing on all cylinders once again. There are so many lush passages that are already stuck in my head, and it's safe to say Frank has brought his A game to compliment the soundscape. On a first listen, it's impossible to tell where it sits, of course! I'll just say it reminded me more of Diamond Eyes and S/T than anything else in their discography. Diamond Eyes for the old school riff centric approach / in your face-ness of a good chunk. A friend already compared it to Around The Fur for the same reason, and I get it. As for S/T, it's the vocals and a certain grooviness in the drums that I associate more particularly with that album that do it for me. I feel like Chino hasn't crooned this much in a long time, as he was progressively using more of his full belt tone since? This might be a stretch and I'll verify that in the upcoming listens. And wait, is this Sergio you can clearly hear during Headless' outro? The backup vocals don't sound like Chino, and from what I remember from the former's solo album, his voice has a distinctively different tone too. Oh and it feels good to hear the snare pop off in that classic Terry Date way. I'm looking forward to read all your reactions!
This somehow exceeded my expectations. Will try not to listen anymore till it's out in full quality. I think Genesis might be the least good song on it.
I’m gonna wait, mainly because I have no idea how to download leaks anymore, but it’s only 2 more days. absolutely jacked to hear it, though. The reactions in here are awesome to see.
Never been one to seek out leaks so I'll wait two more days. I'm very jazzed to see how well its going over though. Sounds like its been worth the wait.
Gave the title track of the leak a listen and sounded a little squishy for my taste. The wait continues
Because this was a pretty short roll out, I think ima hold off on the leak, but man and I happy reading these reactions.
Not listening to the leak either, but I had a feeling this would be similar to Code Orange releasing Underneath as the first single. It's good, but in the context of the album, it's a triumphal ending statement. I was hoping for the same here.
ERROR IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST DEFTONES SONG SINCE S/T WHAT THE FUCK godddddd it sounds so classic and new deftones at the same time it’s the best of both worlds
this record is fucking amazing. I loved KNY and DE and Gore are good too but this puts their work last decade to shame. SNW too, while we’re at it. thank fucking god for terry date and deftones. I feel like I am listening to White Pony for the first time again or something.
Even if someone PM's me a link there's no way I'd listen to it. I already have it pre-ordered so really if someone sent me a link I definitely wouldn't listen to it non-stop today
