came around on this in a big way. love the vibe its going for. reminds me of the old scattered sounding deerhunter mixed in with the more pop oriented sound they developed on Fading Frontier. stoked to see them on Thursday.
This was a hilarious read. Guy’s a real character. I would have a tough time talking to him in person.
So the crew in here is not a big fan of FF, eh? That is my favorite release. But I'm late to the party on these guys. Learned about them with Monomania.
I’ve been listening to the discography pretty much nonstop these past two weeks, thanks to the new album and all these interviews Bradford is doing. Weirdly enough, I think I’m with him when it comes to Monomania—what an incredible record.
loved this, thanks - Bradford is quite the character, but I kinda appreciate that and always enjoy his rants and sense of self-grandeur haha I also highly recommend this article: The Quietus | Features | Baker's Dozen | Nicely Proposed, Coxy! Bradford Cox Of Deerhunter's Favourite LPs here for the new record!
That said, this album is actually pretty good. Still not my favorite Deerhunter release but I enjoy it more than their last effort.
i enjoyed this a good amount on first listen, lots of really nice accessible tracks, though theres some weird questionable moments on here, but overall pretty happy with it. i wanna say i like it more than fading frontier but i havent heard that in so long.
I like how the record just trails off on the last song. Feels like it just wanders back out to the desert. I like FF more though.
Dont have fully developed thoughts as I've only listened once but it's solid. Very easy listen and I'll probably come back to it a few more times
Is it possible for a record that came out 4 days ago to already be underrated? This is fantastic. “No Ones Sleeping” is greatttttt
loved the record probably their best since HD and their most immediate ever perhaps but I wanna revisit Monomania because a lot of my friends (and Bradford) love it! I really liked how they used 4 different studios / producers for this like Self Defense did for HiE - love the crispy drum sound on some of these tracks
I remember being meh about monomania when it first released but I revisited it last winter and I appreciate it a lot more
saw them last Thursday and these songs sounded incredible live. fit in perfectly with the rest of their discog. they closed with this 10 minute long version of Nocturne. So fucking good. this was the setlist.
