y'all ever heard B L A C K I E? not to get technical, but he's often referred to as "Death Grips before Death Grips". they were even supposed to tour together a while back but didn't for some reason. his old stuff is probably more accessible (a weird trait to give him or anyone being likened to Death Grips), new stuff is very jazzy and free-form. still good, but here's one of his older records:

 

Yeah blackie and clipping are always who i hear get the DG comparisons. good bands.

 

Most of what ride says is total nonsense imo haha

And yeah. BLACKIE is kind of the OG for this stuff

 

For whatever reason I don't really like any songs on this album until Eh, and then I really dig everything after

 

what about DALEK, they were doing that noise rap shit since the 90's

they fucking killed it (still do)

This is definitely going to be in my top 10 EOTY. Probably my favorite DG album at this points

 

Does anyone know what in the fuck Ride is saying before the Spikes hook? It almost sounds like what he's saying is being played backwards.

 

Nvm I figured it out. He's saying "Greed tastes like spikes spikes spikes spikes hyperlink hyper hyper hyper hyper"

 

i still listen to this regularly. spikes thru trash might be the best stretch of songs they've put together on an album.

I totally agree. "Eh" has such a great beat and production to it. It sounds like a twisted 8 bit NES song.

Spikes has the best hook in any DG song I think. Hacker remains my favorite DG song

probably the craziest live show i've ever been to. just played non stop for 90 minutes without saying a word. zac hill just pounded away at the drums the entire set.
