The only songs I ever revisit from that album are "Home Is A Fire", "You Are A Tourist", "Unobstructed Views", "Monday Morning" and "Underneath the Sycamore".
Haha yeah in all honesty I can't actually remember the last time I listened to any of those songs. But if I did revisit that album... those would be the songs I would listen to lol
Kintsugi would've been a good EP if you took the first four tracks and then the closer. Haaaate Give Up.
Good Help is the worst song by far on Kintsugi, even though I think half the album is pretty mediocre. Codes is something I can listen to from front to back and enjoy, honestly
I really liked a lot of it. No Room In Frame, Black Sun, Ghost of Beverly Drive, Little Wanderer, Hold No Guns, Everything is a Ceiling, and El Dorado are all great. Everything else is just various shades of okay in my opinion. Home is A Fire, You Are A Tourist, St Peters Cathedral & Stay Young Go Dancing are all great, but I think Monday Morning is one their best songs that isn't from the Trans/Plans era.
I thought the conversation about on the last page was cool until it turned into another ranking and who does/doesn't like Kintsugi thread. Thought this thread already went over that stuff on the first two pages.
Airplanes is great, y'all are crazy. Definitely my favorite of their first 3. Your Bruise is a top 5 DCFC song.
Yeah I've enjoyed Airplanes every time I've listened to it, despite it being the album of theirs that I've listened to the least. Fake Frowns is such a jam.
Your Bruise probably wouldn't crack my top 50, ha. Like I said I do enjoy the album but I couldn't imagine preferring it to Facts or Photo.
Just listened to this, it's Ben talking about the equipment, writing process and meaning behind El Dorado. Was pretty cool to hear solo'd parts of the song, especially as it's one of my favourites.
This is it though. Perfect song on a perfect album. Actually one of the funniest memories I have of AP was some joker made a thread called "what's your favourite breakdown?" and someone said they loved the breakdown in We Looked Like Giants and they flipped out all caps saying "I DON'T THINK YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT BREAKDOWNS ARE"
how do y'all pronounce Transatlanticism? I've always said it like mysticism, heard a radio DJ say it "Transatlantic-ism" today.
The bands referred to it as Transatlanticism (like mysticism) right? That's how I've always said it. Transatlantic-ism sounds weird haha
I used to pronounce it the way coleslawed just described, but I think I remember hearing one of the band members pronouncing it the way Kenneth just described and since then I've stuck with that. This post was way longer than it needed to be.
