I think I found them when I was 7th or 8th grade. I had known IWYITD, but I was dating a girl who liked Trans a lot and got me into it. That album became monumentally important for me when we ended up breaking up, lol.

Photo Album is my favorite by them. So much to unpack in that record. It's definitely not an instant pleaser, but grows with each listen. I feel that all their records age well, but that one feels like a proper bridge between their old style and new style and touches on something special.

I watched the entirety of the O.C. about 11 years after it premiered so it was just a pleasant surprise to see and hear a bunch of my favorite bands from 2003-07 pop up as I watched the show

I remember in the first season there's a scene where they're driving down to Mexico and Summer starts complaining about Death Cab playing on the radio saying it's "two guitars and a whole bunch of whining." I was in total shock.....not only was the band I liked that I thought no one knew about played on a hit show, but there was an entire scene about them!
Pretty sure the song was A Movie Script Ending.

A classmate I met in summer school of 07 (I was 15) gave me a mix CD after talking about bands we liked. The third track was Blacking Out the Friction and the next Soul Meets Body. I was mesmerized. Soon afterwards I got Plans and Trans and the rest was history. Don't think I heard Photo album till a year or two later thou lol.
