When I first heard gold rush, and the several listens after, I abhorred the chant. I still don’t like it much, but I can get over it and enjoy the rest of the song. As for why it’s so grating, for me it’s partially because the “sh” sound lasts too long.

 

I hated gold rush at first but surprisingly growing on me

Transatlanticism is my favourite album of all time and I can't even choose a top 5 from that album

 

This is easily their best since Narrow Stairs... Gold Rush might be the worst song on it. A lot of really nice moments here.

 

Today I am flying home for the first time in over 2 years. I can already tell this album is going to have some memories tied to it.

 

Ok so aside from the chant in gold rush sounding like it should be in a Disney movie like Mulan or something... song is awesome and the album is AWESOME

Am I the only idiot that didn't even notice they were actually chanting "Gold Rush" in the background? I guess that means it doesnt bother me.

 

Man, this feels like such a fall album. I do NOT want to wish the summer away, but I can't wait for that first chilly morning where I can start this album on my way out the door before I board the train to work.

 

This has settled in nicely and I listen to a lot but right now I’d rank it firmly between the first and second half of kintsugi. Those first 4 tracks on kintsugi are crazy good.

 

Officially really loving this album now. And “Gold Rush” might be my second favorite to “Summer Years”. If I hadn’t seen the negative feedback before listening, it honesty wouldn’t have occurred to me that it would be divisive.

 

Passenger Seat was the first song of theirs I heard and will forever be the favorite

it's an incredibly beautiful day in Philly today and I took this record on a walk with my dog. this is brilliant when it's cool and the sun is sliding in and out from behind clouds. it's a perfect morning record, I love it

 

Yeah I really liked listening to this early in the morning the day after it came out, when I was driving myself and my girlfriend somewhere.

It really is. I’m listening to it while I eat breakfast and it’s the most I’ve enjoyed it yet.

 

This set truly made me appreciate Gold Rush and this verrsion of 60 and Punk is heart wrenching.

 

right before Kintsugi I watched a video of Ben playing No Room in Frame by himself and it was so emotional and I have not seen that video again but I think about it all the time.

 

How am I just realizing how much car-related lyrics are on Transatlanticism ?

 

60 and Punk might be the first Death Cab song that hit me this hard in a while. Part of me wants to believe it's Ben writing to himself about his alcoholism and what his life could have been had he not become sober.
