Yeah. Northern Lights should be a single. That’s become my favorite song on here.

I'm really liking the record so far, I definitely think it's the best thing they've done since Narrow Stairs. Also for people saying it's boring... this is Death Cab. I've literally never had a first listen to any of their records that I didn't find boring haha

Also has it been noted that according to the liner notes, Yoko Ono co-wrote Gold Rush?

Side note: I really don't get the hate for the song

Just started this - opener is really dull but damn Summer Years is sounding terrific

They sampled one of her songs so she gets credit as a co-writer. It’s not my favorite song but I do enjoy despite the slide guitar getting annoying sometimes.

Ah, didn’t realize that’s what it was, thanks for clarifying

This is fantastic on first listen. I actively disliked the opener but pretty much loved everything else (also hadn't listened to any singles so this was all new). I actually think the repeated "gold rush" chant is pretty cool. Standouts are probably Summer Years and Northern Lights

Very pleased with this, I think it's instantly a ton more memorable than Kintsugi and it'll be huge for me in the fall

Yep this is a Death Cab record.

Enjoying it a lot. Summer and Hurricane are early favorites.

Went to get the vinyl from HMV, it was 32 quid.

What the hell is that about?

Listened to this album and Kintsugi on my morning run with some hardcore coastal weather. It was perfect for a slow, long, foggy run.

I've been meaning to post this since last week. But man does the beginning of Autumn Love remind me a lot of this Snow Patrol song:

After a handful of listens I can definitely say this is better than Kintsugi and that's exactly what I was hoping for. The rhythm section grooves and there's not a track I dislike. 60 & Punk is just wow

Side note: Something About Airplanes came out 20 years today..

I didn’t even know that and I listened to the album for the first time yesterday too!

I really like it, been listening to it multiple times along with the new album. The cello on Bending Squares is a nice surprise, President of What? and Pictures of Exhibition kind of remind me of that 90s Harvey Dangerish sound which I like. Amputations’s guitar melody makes me nostalgic w/o hearing it before. Fake Frowns might be my favorite. The album in general does sound a lot like that 90s music era, an element of its time and a good one at that.

That's crazy, 30 minutes on the treadmill for just under 3 miles is the most I've done. Im doing a virtual 5k in a couple months though

i've been listening to the whole discography in preparation for this one and i think narrow stairs is my favorite era of this band? we have the facts is prob my favorite album in and of itself but i just love how creative and open-ended they were in their approach to the songs on both narrow stairs and the open door (and i kinda wish "my mirror speaks" and "i was once a loyal lover" were on the album just sayin')

Nice! Keep it up and have fun doing it! I haven't done a virtual race yet, but I see how popular they are becoming. Its a cool idea.

Ben is an ultra runner too. There are some cool videos/interviews with him talking about that stuff.

    He’s done a 100 mile race.

I love the guitar tones on this thing.

It’s stupid to say this, but I love how much this “feels like” a deathcab record.
