I was taken aback by that! I really love that song.

 

yeah it resonated with me a lot when i last listened to it a couple months ago

 

I love fans of music that romanticize albums in particular seasons / weather.
This week in Niagara we had some really really dark and rainy mornings. Listened to Ryan Adams "Love is Hell" driving to and from work and it just sounds so much better for whatever reason.

 

Death Cab in general is definitely a fall/winter band for me.

 

Yeah interesting this is coming out in August

 

just in time to carry us through fall

 

The ideal month would've been September, just as its starting to cool off, but at least it's late summer, so it'll be time soon enough. But it's for sure going to make me wish it was fall when I hear it haha

 

I don’t have seasons so I don’t care when things come out

 

Death Cab is a fall and winter band for me aside from Kintsugi which is early spring

 

so many of their songs have lyrics that make them work in specific seasons/weather - crooked teeth, grapevine fires, summer skin, photobooth, blacking out the friction, i was a kaleidoscope, we looked like giants, the new year, etc

others stick because of memories associated

Transatlanticism has always been my favorite, but to me it's like listening to a rainy early spring day which is hard to block out.

 

I have memories that hugely connect Transatlanticism to a January in 2013 when the UK had a massive snow storm so it’s a winter album for me for sure

 

Death Cab is an underrated summer band. I get the fall and winter love, particularly for Narrow Stairs, but much of their stuff is very good unwinding summer evening music. I've spent many a summer night stargazing to Transatlanticism with family and friends.

Yeah no one acted like that, Kayla just said there are plenty of emo dudes who need to hear that criticism and that was it

The closest I get is "music for when it rains" and "sunny music for driving along the coast"

I don’t really think the emo comment was pretentious at all. He said they didn’t want to be associated with the label, nothing wrong with it.

 

he didn't name any bands, can't imagine taking offense to what he said

 

genres are dumb but calling Death Cab emo because they make sad songs makes you a cop

I don't think there's anything wrong with his emo comments, a lot of bands feel the same. Taking Back Sunday make comments like this all the time.

 

Yeah I didn't find any part of that interview pretentious. In fact, I felt like when he even approached areas of being rude or snarky, he adds in a "I don't mean this to besmirch your interview question...", "but Chris gave us more than he maybe should have and we're fortunate he did"

He seemed really polite and intelligent
