I tried making a list but everything after We Have the Facts to Narrow Stairs are all equally fantastic imo. Also I won’t hear any early DCFC slander. If you don’t like the pre-Transatlanticism stuff (WHTF and Photo Album, specifically) and “love everything else” then you just haven’t listened closely enough.

  3. Something About Airplanes is a fantastic debut. Love how lo-fi those first two records sound, they're super charming and a lot of those songs were formative to the way I continue to write songs today.

It’s a really solid record but Pictures in an Exhibition and The Face That Launched 1,000 Shits knock it down a level for me. The rest is top-notch Death Cab.

  5. I like the little bit of bright "Pictures in an Exhibition" brings to a mostly dark album, especially in between "Your Bruise" and "Sleep Spent" (which might be my favorite track on the record)

This might be my favorite live video of theirs. The added guitar part in the intro is so so good.

Oh man... I don’t know if I could ever rank their discography. It’s always changing for me.

You’re not alone @irthesteve on their records pre Transatlanticism- I enjoy them but not nearly as much as everything that came after.

I think I agree with this - I feel like I've enjoyed them so much over the years that I don't really need new music from them anymore.

As sonically dull as "Gold Rush" kind of is, the lyrics are fantastic and really emotionally resonant

    I remember a winter's night
We kissed beneath the street lamp light
Outside our bar near the record store
That have been condos for a year and more
Now that our haunts have taken flight
And been replaced with construction sites
Oh, how I feel like a stranger here
    Searching for something that's disappeared

Digging for gold in my neighborhood
For what they say is the greater good
But all I see is a long goodbye
    A requiem for a skyline
It seems I never stopped losing you
As every dive becomes something new
And all our ghosts get swept away
It didn't used to be this way

I honestly really like Gold Rush, but it seems I am in a minority. Ben's voice and lyrics are always the main draw for me.

I like it too. It was a grower for me. I threw in my Death Cab playlist and that’s when it started clicking with me. I think that’ll be the same when the whole album is out.

I like both songs but I'm looking forward to more melodic, vocal hook based songs.

Not a big fan of the "oh oh oh oh oh"s in the new song but otherwise it's solid.
