Good to know. I feel the drumming was lacking a lot in Kintsugi. Hope to hear it back in the fore front cause McGerr is super talented.

maybe this time, I won't be alright Supporter

Irish date in January, even if I'm lukewarm on the new record like I was on Kintsugi I'll still go because I've been waiting FAR too fucking long for this.

  4. That live song sounds so much better than "Gold Rush." I believe I read somewhere that the first clip we heard in the album teaser was from the opening track, so maybe "Gold Rush" will make more sense in context or simply be a disposable single within a really great collection of songs.

It is the first song. Really excited for it too since it sounded great in the teaser’

My only issue with 'Narrow Stairs' is the placement of 'I Will Possess Your Heart' as the second track, especially after finding out how it breaks up the transition between 'You Can Do Better Than Me' and 'Grapevine Fires' on vinyl. It just sucks the momentum that was built from 'Bixby Canyon Bridge, it should been placed after 'Grapevine...'

Totally disagree SO hard, the duo of Bixby-Possess is possibly my favorite 1-2 punch opening for any of their albums

I wish I could agree but I don't see 'Possess' as a "punch", it's an 8 minute song that is instrumental jam for the first half. By no means do I dislike the song but it really takes the wind out the sails of the album for me where it is.

"punch" doesn't mean high energy or anything, it's two excellent songs back to back which kick off the album beautifully

I completely understand that however personally I don't think they work in sequence, which is bothersome when almost every other song on the record transitions and flows together so effortlessly.

I love the long intro on Possess

Again nothing against the song itself, just its placement on the album.

For me, Bixby feels like a prelude of sorts, setting the stage for the album is about to follow. Possess feels like Chapter 1, with the long instrumental intro building up to the start

This is an angle I've never approached it from, will consider this when I give it a spin tomorrow on the way to see them.

I have the shortened version of I Will Possess Your Heart. Can't be doing with that long ass intro.

oh man possess totally justifies its length and has perfect album placement. that record doesn’t miss till like track 7 or 8 really and even then, they have a confidence and sense of life that isn’t found really anywhere else in their discosgraphy; I will possess your heart is (like Steve said) basically where that energy really starts on the album. Wouldn’t cut a second. *edit: “mission statement” was a phrase I was looking for but did not find in time*

this one however is not getting me too excited. Gold rush w the video read super tacky and melodically a bit cloying and uninspired
