My thoughts exactly, and I do have tickets for that tour for a date in September. But damn, I really want to hear/see Foxglove live.
I’ve seen them live 4 times, and the most recent was Jan of this year, and this is the best they’ve been IMO. I would say it’s worth it if they keep the same set list and depending on your feelings about Asphalt.
I shared this on reddit as well: I couldn’t place it but for some reason I have not been able to develop a personal connection to the new album at all. It leaves me disconnected and cold. Doing a first complete listen of the acoustic version has changed the way I feel about these songs. The melodies, the sonics, the lush warm textures - it all came rushing back to me… the reasons I love Death Cab. The emphasis on piano is so key as it’s a lovely call back to Plans especially. Ben’s vocals as well are a dramatic improvement. So for me it’s not even a contest, this is the definitive version of the album. I’m very thankful the band created it and released it. As a bonus their cover of The Plan is amazing. Thoughts ?
I’ve not heard it yet but will definitely check it out. Although the layers on the original are elements I think make it, so I might have the opposite reaction to it stripped down. Although I do love acoustic DCFC. I can’t imagine “I Don’t Know How I Survive” stripped down.
This is actually a really nice version, I can see me coming back to both regularly. I prefer the original overall but I think I prefer acoustic “Roman Candles”.
Bucket list band for me and so glad I finally had a chance to see them, I went to Denmark for the first time in my life to catch that opening night exactly, and the setlist was amazing - well and no, they do not strip anything down. The only quiet/Ben solo moment was for I Will Follow You
This is a pleasant listen so far. I didnt think I'd like an acoustic version of Survive but they nailed it.
I bought a ticket for their show in Antwerp this evening for only €15. They where great as always. Since they are playing Transatlanticism in full later this year, there where a lot of songs from it. Every time I hear them play Trans I feel 18 again.
How come so cheap? ;D and I'm jealous if they did more Transatlanticism, in Denmark they pulled only 4 songs from it, but the setlist was really solid anyways. Ps. love Antwerp by the way, went there to see shows a few times in the past, some of my favorites ever too! Foxing with TTNG ;o
gimme that exact setlist on Sunday and I'll be satisfied. fucking LIGHTNESS as first encore, yes. (they've also rotated in 405, Marching Bands, Brothers on a Hotel Bed and Why You'd Want to Live Here for at least one show each.)
The show was only €32 I think. Bought a ticket through Ticketswap for half of the price. I only decided last minute to go because of back pains. They played 5 songs of Trans in Antwerp, so only 1 more but I already thought that was a lot. The entire setlist sounded pretty solid. Black Sun, I Will Posses Your Heart and We Looked Like Giants were highlights. I would have skipped Your Heart Is an Empty Room, it fell a bit flat. Would have loved Brothers on a Hotel Bed.
Pretty cool! They did play Brothers in Denmark during the encore, but I've noticed they keep swapping that one position in the setlist for 405 or Lightness (ohhh!) and maybe some others. Otherwise it's all pretty similar.
Ah I would love to hear that live! With all the many times I've seen them live and all the songs they've played, I don't think I've seen any Codes & Keys songs besides You Are A Tourist.
