I would say records that grow on you are usually what eventually makes the listener excited, especially after getting used to lots of different musical ideas, it's not that easy to get impressed anymore - but it's always worth to take a few listens in search fo that. If it clicks then if often becomes something more ;D I won't get into the second take considering EPs - cause I definitely could see that factor having an impact.

Yeah I'm fine with letting stuff grow on me but you have to draw the line somewhere so there usually has to be something that's making me want to listen again. The Blue EP just sounded like Death Cab but blander than ever to me. Also yeah I'm much quicker to cut off EP's or random singles just because I'm rarely ever in the mood for something short.

Totally get it! I also tend to think LPs get me more engaged and I'll always have some second thoughts on possibly not holding enough attention at the first listen and I'll return to check it out more times. As for that EP I think I still appreciate it, if only even for the vibe, it has its moments ;D

If you don't like the Blue EP then you probably should just check out from Death Cab at this point lol.

Yeah, I am checked out at this point considering I think they haven’t put out a good release in over a decade. Doesn’t mean I also can’t listen to whatever they put out next. I can walk and chew gum at the same time

  9. I disagree with the bolded but yeah, that post is silly lol you can dislike a band's recent output and still have a soft spot of them/hope to enjoy whatever's next

I've liked everything else they've done and they've made some of my all time favourite records so I'm never going to not be interested and excited for a Death Cab album.

  11. Revisited The Blue EP and it's good but I don't know that quality is 1:1 with replay value. I really, really like Thank You For Today, so maybe that Plans-era indie-pop sound is mostly what I'm looking for from them now. It's a nice little EP, I just don't go back to it often and don't really foresee that changing anytime soon

Wild but I’m just realizing that their EPs are some of my favorite releases out of everything they’ve done. Can’t think of another band where that is true.

Blue is top tier. That’s fact. Lol

But the Open Door EP has some of my favorite songs of theirs too. The Georgia EP is also phenomenal.

It seems like a rare opinion in this thread but yeah I think I like everything this band has done. Even my least favorite releases have some great songs, and their best releases are phenomenal throughout.

No Room in Frame*, The Ghosts of Beverly Drive, Little Wanderer, You Are a Tourist, Doors Unlocked and Open, Summer Years, 60 & Punk

All among the best songs they've ever released

*Might honestly be in my top 5 from them

I'm in the camp that everything DC puts out is quality. Thank You For Today was a great record and I'm excited for another summer release

"No Room in Frame" is their best song since Narrow Stairs for sure.

  19. Thank You For Today is a wonderful record and the songs really deliver in their live show

Give me more unique guitar work like in the solo, and I'd be ecstatic.
