It's probably my second favorite on the record after the title track, but I can't fault you too much. 10 perfect songs on that album, and "Interior Decorator" is pretty good too. Eighth grade for me, LOL. Yeah, I wasn't even going to respond to that post, but these three songs not being there were problems #1, #2, and #3 with it.
stay young is nice instrumentally and honestly fine vocally but it's his most embarrassing lyric writing, which is saying something.
If I think about it, I would definitely agree that his melodies are pretty great on TYFT, even if everything else about a lot of the songs are a big letdown. "Near/Far" sticks out in my head as having a great melody but musically it's boring as all hell and it's just not very exciting or good.
I Dreamt We Spoke Again is probably their weakest opener imo and my least favorite on TYFT (which i think is good overall)
Also my least favorite on that record. Always felt like a false start to an album that gets much better on the next track.
Oh this is little easier than closers: Marching Bands New Year Title Track Bixby I Don't Know How to Survive No Room in Frame Steadier Footing Bend to Squares Home Is A Fire I Dreamt We Spoke
IDWSA might be my favorite track on TYFT, and I love that album. Maybe I'm just a sucker for an extended tom fill
Title Track Bend to Squares Marching Bands of Manhattan The New Year Bixby Canyon Bridge I Dreamt We Spoke Again I Don't Know How to Survive (for now) Steadier Footing Home is a Fire No Room in Frame
The New Year Marching Bands of Manhattan No Room in Frame Title Track Bend to Squares Bixby Canyon Bridge I Don't Know How I Survive I Dreamt We Spoke Home is a Fire Steadier Footing
I definitely have a firmer hierarchy with openers: Bixby Canyon Bridge The New Year Marching Bands No Room In Frame I Don't Know How I Survive Steadier Footing Title Track Home Is A Fire Bend To Squares I Dreamt We Spoke Again
Marching Bands The New Year Bixby Title Track No Room In Frame I Dreamt We Spoke Again Steadier Footing Home is a Fire Not ranking Bend to Squares because I haven’t heard it enough and IDKHIS because it’s too new
S Marching Bands New Year Title Track A + Bixby A I Don't Know How to Survive No Room in Frame B Steadier Footing Bend to Squares C Home Is A Fire I Dreamt We Spoke
There's not a bad one in the bunch, but I'll give it a shot: Title Track Marching Bands of Manhattan New Year No Room in Frame Bixby Canyon Bridge I Don't Know How to Survive Steadier Footing I Dreamt We Spoke Again Bend to Squares Home Is A Fire
it’s always been hard for me to see the song as the clear low point on the record like most seem to personally, largely in part to that bridge, bc I sincerely think it’s one of the best parts of the entire record
