Yeah my issue isn't like when he repeats something a ton like Transatlanticism or We Laugh Indoors but when he just randomly repeats lines for no reason like Roman Candles or Here's to Forever. Plus yeah its not like the worst thing ever, just hurts the songs a bit for me.
Spoken like a true Weatherbox fan! But actually I don't think lyrical / melodic repetition has ever bothered me unless it's the entire chorus that's repeated a bunch.
The fact that the repeated lines in Roman Candle are super low in the mix just echos the content of the lyrics, like they’re literally disappearing and being devoured.
So is it just me, or are there no filler tracks here? TYFT clearly had some sleepers (you moved away being one of the biggest offenders). This is leagues more enjoyable and daring.
oh you moved away is one of the best songs on the album! (it does have some other snoozers tho I'll agree)
You mopped the floors and filled the cracks To get your security deposit back You closed your account at the bank You checked your tires and filled the tank why why why didn’t the band ask Ben to go back and workshop this song a little more?
This is cool so far, a lot of the vocal melodies don’t go where I expect them to. I like the guitar tones too.
I mean, they just seemed like banal, almost joke lyrics. I mean come on that third verse???? You put your dinner on a plate, Sat down and ate it right away. You took a shit and washed your hands, Wish I could write like I did on Trans.
finally getting to listen to this. still not super into Roman Candles, it's cool musically but the lyrics/vocal melodies don't really work for me. I love the title track though!
Holy shit the title track is beautiful. Reminds me so much of something off of Narrow Stairs mixed with a bit of Codes & Keys
