I need this album like I need water, Heathen is too good

 

Is this the most they've mixed the harsh and clean vocals? I really like this one. Reminds me of Alcest's latest album.

2/2 so far, trending towards an album of bangers

only skimmed it as to go in as blindly as possible, but i'm very excited

pretty excited that it seems to be the inverse of infinite granite and that they might be able to be viewed as a double album. pretty cool stuff

 

Wow, what a review. I could not be any more excited.

 

His PhD in Deafheavenology will be well deserved.

 

Gonna have to save the rest for later lest I get no work done for the rest of the day but I made it to the VERY STRONG statement in the middle of the writeup and I am HYPED.

Seeing people pop off this enthusiastically about albums they love brings me so much happiness because I try to full-send my own enthusiasm about albums I love. Mike Nelson gets it.

listened to all their records over the last couple of days — I think New Bermuda is my favorite. that one, sunbather, and ochl are really close for me. i love the other two though also. what a band!! i just think NB hits because it has a lot of sections that sound like appleseed cast to me and i like that lol

 

I've come around to NB in a big way doing a discog run, think that's my second favorite at this point.

 

New Bermuda is the one for me, followed not too far behind by Infinite Granite.

Sunbather and OCHL are right there on that next tier. I think Sunbather is generally overrated but that doesn't mean it's bad.

Roads is last, but again it's not bad, there's just nothing they do on that album that they don't do better elsewhere in their discography so I rarely reach for it outside of discog runs.

Also, shout out to "Black Brick", one of their best tracks:

still need to spin/pick up Roads to Judah and LPWP (when it drops)

 

love that there are so many variants across this band's discography. i don't think there's any overlap between what you have and i have (Sunbather - baby pink/piss yellow, NB - 180g black, OCHL - 150g black, IG - blue Neptune)

 

my sunbather variant is top 5 in my collection - still feel so lucky to hit on. the /300 variant all those years ago on DW's site
