This single is tuff, I wish the whole album would be like this but I know it won't (and that's okay) I can't believe Deafheaven is the one thing Pat, Mick and I all agree on lmao.
My favourite deafheaven album is whatever one I’m currently listening to. New Bermuda at the moment. What a fucking record.
I don't mind that but it's sad if true. OCHL is so well balanced between softer sound, romanticism, and hard stuff that absolutely rips.
OCHL is why I love this band as much as I do. That album floored me the way Sunbather did for most others.
Don't love George's clean vocals on that one either lol but they're way, way less prominent obviously. It's a very good record. Gimme the hard stuff!
i will say one of my favorite parts of OCHL was the Chelsea Wolfe feature. i'd love for her to show up more on their stuff (or even just do a collaborative album like she did with Converge)
Been a while since I listened to Chelsea Wolfe, but I was really into Hiss Spun the year that came out
Night People is the only song in their catalog that I don’t particularly care for, excluding interludes. Easily my least favorite track on Ordinary Corrupt Human Love.
Loving this. Smart move on their end, simultaneously returning to the sound their fans love while keeping the tracks a more conventional length cuz it's something they've never done before. I dig it.
It ain't bad, but it doesn't hit the same for me like their older stuff did. Will probably go into the same category a lot of black metal I've listened to that isn't Spectral Wound over the past couple of years - I'll enjoy listening to it one to three times and then probably never revisit it. for the record, i enjoyed their turn on infinite granite much more than anything they've done since sunbather so a return to this type of stuff is kind of disappointing tbh.
Listened to IG for the first time this morning. Unreal album. Immediately put on Magnolia for the first time right after and it nearly gave me whiplash
