Listened to this once and like it a lot. It’s so dense and long, I need to listen to it a bunch more times to wrap my head around it. My initial take is that (like almost all their albums) almost all the songs sounds like last songs of an album. That’s mostly complimentary because they’re all so epic, but it’s a little exhausting too. I wish there were more songs that offered respite from onslaught of the other songs.
The three song sequence of The Garden Route, Heathen and Amethyst is just so perfect, especially for IG lovers like myself
Just threw this on for the first time in a couple of days and it literally blew me away all over again.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is their best. It's like they took all their other albums, improved on them and combined them into one. I think Marvelous Orange Tree is my new favourite song of theirs too.
I have exactly zero people in my life to bond with over this band, and I happened to bring them up to an acquaintance during a random conversation at a coffee shop the other day. He gave me this locked-in look and said, ‘Their new album,’ and we proceeded to gush about it for the next 30 minutes. It was beautiful. This is my early contender for aoty.
Three and a bit songs in and I’m loving this. I don’t think George is back leaning on his harsh vocals as a crutch - it’s already clear to me that without Infinite Granite, this record doesn’t exist.
Was on my like fourth listen yesterday driving around for work, and Body Behavior came on. Had a huge drop of dopamine just knowing what was coming. They absolutely killed it on this record and it’s sequenced perfectly
This record clicked with a friend I’ve been trying to get into Deafheaven for a few years, and he just bought a ticket to their NYC show on his own accord - I’m so proud
The way it feels like Dan Tracey is proverbially sprinting down a hallway towards us for that buildup gets me every time
This might be my favorite album of theirs now. It has everything I love from them. The last three songs in particular are such a ride. Everything that happens after 2:40 on The Marvelous Orange Tree just causes me to ascend. They're able to do that so consistently. It's pretty magical.
