I gave Sunbather a listen today and this album blows it out of the water

The slowed down riff on Revelator is a big highlight for me

  4. The audacity to feature Paul Banks and then add salt to the wound by rubbing in how they get chix.

  5. New Bermuda and Sunbather are GOATED, but I am also starting to wonder if this is their best. Hate to be annoying about it, I just really can't stop listening to it.

OCHL is better than Sunbather and New Bermuda but I agree, this might be their best

  10. OCHL isn't bad (and would be many other bands' best album), but I don't think it really touches Sunbather or New Bermuda.

Honeycomb is one of their best songs. Otherwise, I think OCHL is kind of just a bunch of good songs with great moments, but I do love You Without End, Canary Yellow, and Worthless Animal too

it has two great borderline perfect songs, a few good ones, and some real bad ones

  14. I like the record up until "Night Song," which is probably my least favorite of George's clean vocals.

I love Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, You Without End gives me a feeling no other song of theirs does. I do think the album would be better without Night People, never cared for that one.

yeah, night people, the opener and near aren’t it

  18. Opener is fun, kind of a Queen-ified version of "Brought to the Water"

I ran my first ever ten miles to OCHL and I’ll never forget that run because of the music. Felt like I was about to fly away.

I feel like Deafheaven are just such smart songwriters. It’s clear they’re aware black metal is really abrasive and exhausting when served straight up, so they toss in a little post rock, slip in some singing, tweak the tempos, add a little catchy lead, drop a random alternative rock riff, and ride dynamic waves both hushed and huge. There’s always something to latch on to.

PS: I think the track sequencing on here is absolutely perfect too.

Echoing everyone else that this is very good. Amethyst and the marvelous orange tree are my favorites so far
