New Bermuda Sunbather OCHL Infinite Granite Roads to Judah Those bottom three could go in any order though depending on the vibe
New Bermuda is far and away my favorite by the band, but I did really enjoy Infinite Granite. I have liked everything I have heard from them to some extent but have only really listened to anything aside from NB once or twice. very interested to hear where they go next tho, especially if it’s some kind of blend of their heavier and softer material.
i think new bermuda is probably better but nothing can top the moment in time associated with sunbather coming out for me
I don’t think it was the right time for me for Sunbather when that record came out, I wanted to love it but it just never clicked like that for me. unfortunately I was much too deep in the pop-punk/emo lane at that time lol. have really been wanting to revisit it now that the remastered version is out, maybe I will pick it up on vinyl soon and give it another go.
I think it's my favorite, too. IG and Sunbather are right behind, but for me OCHL splits the difference between those two perfectly.
There’s a couple bands I like that, for lack of a better word, get a pass to do whatever they want in my eyes. I’ll probably enjoy anything this band does. Kerry is one of my favorite guitarists/song writers.
I only really could get into In Blur and Great Mass of Color off on IG(which, I love those 2). I tried multi times on the rest and I hold never click with it.
“Honeycomb” and “Canary Yellow” are both fantastic and among their best songs. But the rest of OCHL does very little for me
I still love the opening one-two punch of You Without End and Honeycomb, and I think the latter is one of their best songs. Canary Yellow and Worthless Animal are great to me too, but I think the album is a real slog between those two songs
Kinda think over time the primacy of Friday as new release day will decline as more acts figure out that only artists who care about first week chart placement need to worry about what day of the week things drop anyway looking forward, I'm on team "IG is the best" camp. it's not just the vocals (though I was delighted to learn the cleans were actually quite strong), it's the self-editing.
