so glad I went to the record release show where they played it in full. Lament for Wasps is incredible live. Also loved the visuals they used for the show.
I'm so jealous! I got to see the livestream they did, and I saw them play Mombasa on tour last fall, but seeing the while thing in person would be amazing.
Yeah no shit man, considering the massive sonic change between the last album and the one before I’m wondering if they fine-tune the shoegaze influenced stuff or if they go a bit heavier
I just saw this and I'm very excited! Both for us getting new music and for their landing on a bigger label.
They had a very beautiful and borderline pop version of black metal going that was interesting and unique. Then they just ditched it for a pretty generic sound. I’m not against them incorporating more melody and some clean vocals but i think it would’ve been more interesting to mix the two styles
I like Infinite Granite, but I definitely wouldn’t mind if they shook it up a bit. The album has lost a bit of its luster for me over time with how most of the songs follow the same verse-chorus-verse-chorus-epic outro structure. I find myself going back to Shellstar, In Blur, and Lament for Wasps every now and then, but tend to only listen to the rest of the album when I’m listening to it in full. I wouldn’t mind a bit of a shakeup from them with the next album. I think they can do a full-blown shoegaze album very well if they don’t feel like every song they write needs to be written like it could be a closer. Certainly wouldn’t mind if they brought more of their metal leanings back.
Didn’t care much for the last album but I’ll revisit it. I’d be absolutely shocked though if they got heavier again.
Thank you. My son was born two weeks before he died, so it’s been a strange time. Not sure it’s really hit me yet.
a lineup catered specifically to me. also only US show of the year. I guess the album won’t come out until fall/winter ?
