They smacked. Played Shellstar, In Blur, Great Mass of Color, The Gnashing, and Mombasa from the new record. The rest was older stuff, which I’m nowhere near as familiar with and couldn’t even name if I wanted to lol. George’s sung vocals are much harder to hear than the screamed parts which was a little frustrating at times, but of course he made up for it in energy. Really solid merch spread too, grabbed a dope Infinite Granite pullover hoodie Didn’t catch Midwife but would never miss Holy Fawn — they crushed like always
I imagine they are working on how to best optimize setlists now with the new material. The October shows were easier since they played the record with three old ones tacked on at the end. They played more older ones last night by the looks of setlist.fm so its about finding balance now.
Yeah I could’ve really gone for Villain myself, but watching their livestream like three times back when that came out at least helped soften the blow a little
bummed they’re not just doing a full album playthrough + older highlights like previous tours, but the catalog is getting deep.
What a show! First time seeing the band and they KILLED it. Seeing them live gave me so much more appreciation for their music.
the new songs have elevated their live show to a level even i thought was unreachable. holy fucking shit. of the 8 or so times ive seen them its not even a contest that this was the best.
ALSO (sorry for triple posting) ive been saying it vocally from the moment i heard "great mass of color" but the davey havok influence has also made its way into george's stage presence. dude is fucking grooving and commanding the stage in a whole new way
never seen them live before but have been really feeling the new record. The new material gives off a very psych vibe, do they have a strong visual component to their live show?
They had a visual graphic going on in the background. It was funny because at one point a pop up appeared on it telling them to plug a charger into the laptop so it wouldn’t die and they got a good kick out of it when they saw it mid-song lol
This was my first time seeing them and it was hands down one of my top 10 shows. Daniel is a MONSTER on the kit.
I thought he was going to fall over and die during honeycomb no man should be allowed to go that hard
the new songs were fucking killer but for me the real highlight was worthless animal. shiv and kerry and George were going fucking ape shit, George kept hugging shiv and Kerry and shiv kept dancing together while busting out their riffs it was fucking gnarly
Worthless Animal and Dream House the clear highlights for me last night. It was super awesome to see the primary vocalist for Holy Fawn come out for the end section of Dream House
