"the metal community" isn't that invested in deafheaven one way or another ime, they're the "metal band indie fans let themselves like because pfork reviews them" as evidenced by the fact they're one of the few that gets dedicated threads on here as opposed to being consigned to the general purpose metal thread

like yeah at one point the false metal kvltists got heated about them but that's a shrinking demographic imo
