I went to an Interpol night at a bar last weekend and it was tight. But this sounds nothing like Interpol lol.
sounds like deafheaven with clean vocals to me, this direction was heavily hinted at on OCHL (and I like both these songs better than anything on that record)
Oh I haven’t listened to the new song yet. People were throwing out Interpol similarities, and I wanted to gush about them.
I just said more Interpol lol everyone quick to be like NO THIS DOESNT SOUND LIKE THAT chill brother I just want more bands to sound like Interpol
I’m kinda curious about the screaming that IS on the album - notably the last few minutes of the closer. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s triumphant sounding, kind of out of place by that point in the album, or mournful like at the end of “Gifts to the Earth”. This whole album just has me thinking hard about it all. I’m re-wiring my brain as a Deafheaven fan.
i didn’t even say interpol in my first post, i just said paul banks. it’s not my fault some people were dummies.
I'm having a hard time reconciling the fact that this album is made by the same people who made those first three records. OCHL struck me as transitional but I had no idea they were heading down this route next. I got this through yesterday and haven't listened yet but will be writing about it for somewhere next month.

New favorite episode. That Joyce Manor/Deafheaven/TA show was sick and the flyer always blows peoples minds when they see it still.
Youtube Actually i noticed it was in my apple music library this morning and just searched it when i got to work and saw the video was up.
Their first miss for me from this album, but it's just not my aesthetic. Objectively it's extremely well put together.
idc what anyone says, these guys make a great shoegaze band. This one is a bit better than The Gnashing for me.
