I've been waiting for the day this thread came back to life. Really excited for new stuff from these guys.

Their last album was really really good and ultimately got me back into the band. I hope they build on that record heavily.

Tbh i liked Rituals but the album before is probably my favourite thing they have done. I’m excited to see what they are doing now they are a duo, i wouldn’t be surprised if they went more down the Rituals route.

Very glad these guys are continuing on, even if it’s not the whole band. Very curious to hear what they’ll sound like now as well.

I'm kinda hoping for something in between Rituals and All these Countless Nights. Rituals was created mostly by James togehter with a producer if I recall correctly, so I guess the new songs might continue in that direction. Matthew is the more rocky lead guitar guy, so I wouldn't mind a little more of his influence to create a blend of those two albums.

i liked rituals and countless nights but I absolutely love Old Souls and Fools and Worthless Liars

i just went onto their wiki and I'm shocked that Matty only joined in 2012. I could have sworn he joined when Ryan left.

Totally agree… it might even be my favorite album by them.

Old Souls is definitely the high point for me. Zero filler on that one. I also really love their Reworked albums. Shame we didn't get that for Old Souls (or Rituals for that matter)

My favourite is All These Countless Nights, but that three album stretch of theirs reminds me of certain times really strongly.

    F&WL - College
    Old Souls - University
ATCN - End of a long term relationship

Excited to see what comes next.

These guys should have 100% been bigger. James is such a good song writer and every album paints a picture of his life I think.

I remember when Meet Me Halfway was released back in 09 and I was massively into post hardcore and I absolutely loved that album. I was lucky to catch them on tour with Ryan before he left.

Fools & Worthless Liars was such an awesome follow up which capsulated British rock and has some of James’s most honest lyrics. The Past Six Years is actually what came to mind when I read the announcement the other day.

The two follow ups weren’t my personal favourites from them but Rituals changed all that for me. I absolutely love that album and it sucks that it didn’t blow them up.

I fully agree, except for Old Souls imo being massively underrated even in the context of their underrated discography. I really think that album is brilliant. Their progression from album to album while still maintaining that emotional vulnerability you mentioned is my favorite thing about them. Couldn't agree more that they deserved to be far bigger.

I remember listening to Old souls (I think ?) a while ago and really liking it, but never really got into them after that. Definitely keen to delve into their discography a bit.

Old Souls might still be my favorite from them. Listening to their discography straight through is a trip. Screamo to Springsteen influenced rock, to pop. I love it when bands aren't afraid to let their music grow up with them instead of feeling pigeon-holed to a certain genre.

Pretty wild, too, that they record a second version of almost every album with a different vibe/genre than the original. For years I didn't know the version of Fools and Worthless Liars on Spotify wasn't the original album.

New single "Going Clear" out now on streaming, and it's MASSIVE! Their new album "The Present Is a Foreign Land" drops July 15th it seems.

Definitely hearing some new influences on this one. Stadium ready for sure! The verses remind me of Fatherson, for some reason. Very happy with this direction, excited for the rest. July 15th is a long wait though..

They put the album on Apple Music with 3 songs. Since been removed but I had it downloaded. “On The Wire” and “Kids” are also very good. Such a long wait though! I was only expecting a one off single though, so it’s still great news.

  21. Going Clear is excellent. It reminds me more of All These Countless Nights than Rituals, but also sounds more grandiose somehow.

Just a random idea, but I couldn't help but be reminded of The Xcerts due to the similar direction the latter has followed.

Yes! The Xcerts was the other band this reminded me of. Thank you. Another band I'm very excited to hear new tunes from.

Not a huge fan of the production but the song itself is great. Connecting really hard with the lyrics right now. Gotta try not to over-listed between now and July.
