I love Sinner. Might be my favourite song this year. I have listened to it basically non stop this year.
Same here! I’m blown away by how well they pulled off the stylistic shift while still keeping their core identity. Probably their hookiest track ever.
It’s just a fantastic chorus. Well written, hooky, and solid vocals throughout. Who doesn’t love a well executed gang vocal honestly I wish the guitars punched harder, the song comes in like a wet fart (and I’m sure the album version won’t), but aside from that it’s probably the best thing I’ve heard so far this year.
I was trying to think of who this track reminded me off and I've decided its paper route. It's honestly way too hook-y and his voice is way too strong to dislike even with the sound change.
My favorite part about Deaf Havana has always been James' vocal melodies and lyrics. Almost to the point where it doesn't matter what form or shape the music around it has. So I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love this one just as much.
Hadn’t listened to Paper Route much and this comment made me decide to check out Real Emotion, so thanks! Really good stuff.
The lyrics are my main draw and it's surprising how much I relate to basically everything since FAWL. This song hit me for sure and I'm really excited for the album. If they all sound like this, I'm still on board. I don't normally dig bands going so poppy but it's well written.
Nice, excited for more music by them. Loved the last record a lot and didn't expect a new one so soon.
I know it means nothing in this day and age, but James is also really nice. I saw him at Slam Dunk Midlands last year, between Citizen and Turnover, as he was heading to prepare for their main stage set later that day. Really nice guy and he repaired my friends glasses with tape and gum haha. Seemed really humble and lovely.
This is so good. These guys have become one of my favorite bands over the last couple years. Need more US tour dates for sure!
Two of my all-time favorite songs are on Paper Routes 2012 album, the one-two punch of "You And I" and "Letting You Let Go". Soooo good.
Deaf Havana’s James Veck-Gilodi “I Know We Are Going To Alienate Some People, Which Sucks” - Features - Rock Sound Magazine “I’m not going to be one of the musicians who plays the same genre of music and writes the same record over and over again. I can’t keep playing emo-rock. I feel like I’m lying to myself. Something radical had to happen. This record needs to go better than anything we have ever done or it has to flop. I’m happy with both outcomes. We just needed a drastic change.” Really cool interview.
Definitely different! Doesn't top Sinner for me, but cool song nonetheless. More downbeat and even more playful with electronics. Only got to hear it once though, hoping for a release tomorrow.
Cool vibe in this song. That low synth-like bass sound drives the song in a really smooth way. Guess they'll get a lot of #wherearetheguitars? backlash on this one though
Definitely like Sinner more but it's still good. I wonder which song is a better representation of the rest of the album.
