I feel like I expect an announcement of the first few projects, with maybe a date for the first. I have a feeling they'll play coy about whether it's a complete reboot or not, although I would love to be wrong and have confirmation one way or the other.
Yeah, I’d love to be able to get at least 5 announcements. Something to indicate what Gunn is really hoping to do
I think we're getting an info dump around 12pm EST today. Also these quotes from Dave Bautista in this article are pretty interesting if true, somewhat confirming the full clean slate Gunn is aiming for: https://www.indiewire.com/2023/01/dave-bautista-dc-bane-james-gunn-younger-actors-1234804983/ You need to start to plan for the next 15 years, and I just don’t think you can do that with me,” the “Glass Onion” actor told Insider. “And I understand that. And, also, I have to say that I appreciate that because I don’t want to play a character that I can’t bring justice to it. I don’t think at this point in my career that I can bring justice to Bane anymore. I just don’t know if I could handle the physical part, and I don’t think I would have the longevity to plan ahead for films. So, I just don’t know if I’d be that guy.” and: "I have had conversations with James about that but I think the direction he’s leaning in, completely rebooting that whole universe, he’s starting from scratch and starting younger and fresher and I think you need to do that,” Bautista said. “I think for the DC Universe to be revived, you need to start from scratch, and I think you need to start with younger actors.”
I've seen a few mentions of it on twitter so not set in stone or anything. One was Grace Randolph so obviously not taking that at face value.
An interesting and diverse array of offerings, but I'm kind of wondering how they're going to work Waller and Peacemaker into it since they're still technically connected to the old DCEU. Like, how do you extract some properties from the others and still have it make sense?
Pumped to see Batman and Robin stuff too but seems weird to jump all the way to the Damian Wayne Robin
Yeah, I wonder if they're going to rewrite the backstory, cause it seems like a lot to have to explain.
Going straight for Bat family probably the best with The Batman trilogy/Reevesverse around. I think throwing a kink into Batman such as a Damien is such a cool way to start him out.
I like the soft confirmation that The Flash resets the universe. Like I've said before could be why some actors are the same, some are different.
Sounds like they're doing what I figured they'd do with The Flash. I've never heard of The Authority, but that sounds like it could be cool. Can't wait for Swamp Thing. I hope that really leans into horror.
More importantly https://www.thewrap.com/james-gunn-dc-ezra-miller-recovery-the-flash-movie/ "When the time is right, when they feel like they’re ready to have the discussion, we’ll all figure out what the best path forward is,” Safran added. “But right now, they are completely focused on their recovery and in our conversations with them over the last couple of months, it feels like they’re making enormous progress.” As for “The Flash” movie itself, Gunn had incredibly high praise: “I will say here that ‘Flash’ is probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.”
I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. I love most of Gunn's stuff so I have high hopes.
Really interested in Green Lantern, Booster Gold and Swamp Thing. Would love an Animal Man show, him and Swamp Thing can go well together. Really excited to see Damian Wayne and Grant Morrison's run be adapted. Wonder if they will do the "I thought you would be taller" thing
“Superman represents truth, justice, and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.” That's all I needed to hear to be excited for Superman.
