I think that is necessary for the tax break. Otherwise they could just collect the money and "leak" it later or some shit.
Oh shit. I've thought this whole time that "DC needs their own Kevin Feige!!!" was a dumb talking point. However, James Gunn is my favorite creative voice in corporate superhero filmmaking (and not one I find myself wishing was doing original work instead of franchise work). He's probably gonna be a fantastic fit for this role. Hopefully he's able to navigate the chaos of Warner Bros Discovery and/or whatever it becomes next () and shepherd some quality work that filmmakers can be proud of. And, selfishly, hope that includes both Henry Cavill's Superman and Ta-Nehisi Coates' Superman.
Pretty cool news. So, the only movies still in the pipeline pre-Gunn are Shazam, Flash, Aquaman 2, and maybe Blue Beetle (not sure what the status of this movie is) right? Really curious to see what the future looks like now.
