I hope that when we get to Justice League, we do a little bit of back tracking to re-establish why Bruce and Diana believe that there is a threat coming that necessitates the Justice League. The ominous dialogue by Lex at the end of BvS isn't gonna cut it.
So in the books he isn't portrayed as world-famous? In the movies there was always the impression that he was a particularly well-known guy. Especially in the Nolan films.
Not really, most of the Batman stories I can think of are all self-contained in Gotham. Most of his other adventures with Justice League and Batman Inc are the only ones I can think of where he isn't in Gotham. Even then I don't think it ever shows him out of the Batcostume.
I think the Knightmare/Barry vision has to do with it also, but since Bruce didn't even give us a "hey Alfred, want to hear something crazy" I agree we need a little more.
It's interesting that Wonder Woman is centered on the BvS cover image despite being underused in the film.
It's so hard to think of a filmmaker who I'd really want handling Superman. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are bulletproof, but I doubt they'd be considered. I actually think Justin Lin could be a solid choice, his strength is in ensemble films but the optimism and hope he brought to Star Trek Beyond was a solid tone that I think could work really well for Superman. And maybe it wouldn't hurt for a DC film to actually have someone who does great ensemble work, it could let Lois and Clark and the Daily Planet co-workers (minus Jimmy Olsen, who they already killed off) and maybe even Batman to actually look like they care about each other and are people and are solving problems together.
I would be happy to get a Superman movie that was good rather than just impressive looking. I don't much look forward to watching MoS again.
It might turn out like Godzilla though were they hype up a Superman fight just to cut away to something else any time he's about to hit something.
MoS is one of my favorite superhero movies, but I'd like to see a different director take on the sequel as well. Justin Lin could be cool. I liked Star Trek Beyond quite a bit.
Man of Steel didn't kill of it's main character in the first 15 mins, stick you with an actor who had the expression of wood and maybe have like 5 minutes of a fight you could cut together. There a plenty of films you could compare to try and tear down the DC films, but "A bunch of humans featuring Godzilla" isn't one of them.
As much as Justin Lin would be great, Doug Liman would be awesome soon. He can do good story telling and good action. Edge of Tomorrow to me had it all, good story, feels, comedy, HUGE action and effects. Very underrated.
They replaced Rachael's character in The Dark Knight so she can be Lois. I don't mind Amy though but I can't say no to Blunt, she is probably my favorite actress.
That bland white guy is the Nick Carroway to Godzilla's Gatsby. His psyche and charisma don't matter, he's there to give the audience a grounds-eye-view of Godzilla, the character who actually has a journey throughout the film. It's the Jaws monster movie structure, but where Godzilla is an actual force of nature, one that humanity/the US has to learn to make room for and exist alongside of. Given Godzilla's origin as an allegory for the atomic bomb, Edwards' Godzilla film actually becomes an interesting look at how America created this monstrous force of nature, then futilely tries to police it.
