This reminds me that I have to get back on watching that. Watched the first two episodes and loved it, but then life happened.
Curious about that show, looks like good Superman content, though I think I remember hearing sketchy stuff about the writers room?
A Supergirl in a live action Flash story? What a unique idea, never seen those characters together before... And, with the Ray Fisher stuff, plus that Ezra Miller video with the fan, it’s hard not to side eye Flash movie stuff right now. Always happy to have the Superman Family get more use in movies & such, though, & I’m happy for that actress. I associate Supergirl with Melissa Benoist so much (in spite of falling off the CW stuff a while ago) it’ll be weird seeing a new take, but maybe this new take will shine in the right story.
That's pretty rad, actually. I wonder if it's going to be one of the "smaller HBO Max movies" they alluded to, or a full theatrical release?
Would be pretty lame of them to hype this up as their First Latino Superhero Movie and then make it a smaller HBO Max movie
Ta-Nehisi Coates writing a Superman film? That’s wild in the best way. What I’ve read of his Captain America comics is really strong. Hopefully a good director signs on; thank goodness Abrams isn’t doing it. (Also hoping for little to no Geoff Johns involvement.)
I wouldn’t mind Cavill getting another shot but also wouldn’t mind someone new. I’m just glad it’s moving, and happy with Coates as the choice for the script.
I agree with Cheryl Lynn Eaton that, if the motivation for Ta-Nehisi Coates is just that Abrams and/or WB wants “a black Superman,” that sucks. And, I’d add that it’d be a weird choice when Dwayne McDuffie already created the perfect black Superman back in the 90s, named Icon, who’d deserve getting that Hollywood boost more than a cynical corporate decision to make Superman “diverse.” (Especially from DC, with all the racist shit that’s circled that company over the years.) If Coates himself were to land on that choice, though, I’d trust him with it.
