Is the DC Universe app dead, or just absorbed into HBO Max?

(On a tangentially related note, still waiting for Disney to work Marvel Unlimited into their Disney+ packages, lol.)

 

I hope not, considering I paid for an annual subscription that lasts until December lol. The website still works for me.

 

Swamp Thing isn't on there and its the only damn thing I care about.

 

From what I can tell Doom Patrol is the only thing being moved to HBO for the time being, which is a bummer because I really wanna watch that Harley show but not sign up for another service

 

I guess I just don’t know what the long term plans for the DC Universe app are in light of HBO Max. Like, will it have enough content to justify being a separate platform? Is the digital comics library growing enough to be comparable to Marvel Unlimited, but w/ bonus film & television access?

Hopefully between DC/WB & Marvel/Disney, digital comic subscription plans evolve to the point where it can breath new life into an industry & medium that the comics direct market can’t.

 

it's incredible -- it's one of my favorite things on right now; Hannah and I watch it together and I can't believe it's as good as it is.

 

From what I've seen DCU app is still separate but it may become part of HBO MAX at some point. Alot of the shows that were exclusive to DCU are now with other platforms networks.

Swamp Thing got purchased by CW @Henry they should be airing it in the fall I believe

 

The Harley cartoon is the DC Universe thing I’d be most interested in, & the current DC animated thing I’d be most interested in. Watched the first episode on YouTube & really dug it.

I appreciated Harley conceptually in recent years but haven’t gotten into anything since the original animated version. But, between Mariko Tamaki’s Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass graphic novel (which seriously rules, y’all) & the Birds of Prey film, I’m really into the character right now.

 

I'm so happy someone else thinks this.

 

We just watched the episode last night that has the cold open of the guy with the "The Last Jedi Isn't Canon" t-shirt on it and I spit my beer out laughing when I saw it.

 

If you like the first episode you will end up loving the rest of the series. They tone down the R-rated humor to a less obnoxious level and the Harley/Ivy relationship becomes more of the focus. Season 2 also has a great Mr. Freeze episode reminiscent of Heart of Ice and there's a Batgirl origin with the Burnside suit.

Also Bane and Kite Man steal every scene they're in.

 

Wait is Kite Man a regular?

 

Bane absolutely kills me.

 

This all sounds so good, lol.

 

Babe and Kite Man are incredible.

 

Is Bane written the way he was in Gail Simone's Secret Six?

Digital event on August 22. Supposed to touch on movies, television, & comic books (y'know, those things w/ pictures & words that the films & TV get their ideas from).

Would be dope if we got an actual full teaser for The Suicide Squad. Wonder how much concrete info it'll give us on Black Adam (which so far still seems to be actually happening, folks) & The Flash.
