I've been in on this idea from the start. Phoenix is an incredible actor and I know he will kill this role
I don't see the point of a Joker solo movie. This new guy definitely looks the part though, I'd be more excited if he was appearing in a Batman movie
Also, how is it that we're living in a time where superhero movies dominate the box office, and yet we haven't had a Batman solo movie since 2012? How incompetent are the people at Warner Bros?
Former DC President Diane Nelson Says JOKER Is The Type Of Movie WB Should Have Been Making Since Nolan
I really do hope we get at least one Batfleck movie. The little bits we saw of him in the last two are just a tease.
Birds of Prey is the most exciting DC movie to me that's more than a passing thought (outside of MAYBE Shazam). The Phoenix Joker film (outside a couple small reservations) is a lot more exciting than any Joker film should be. DC has like 5 films in a row lined up that look better than most of their last however many films. And, yet, somehow, that awful Joker & Harley "love story" project won't just go away. I'm pretty sure it's not gonna actually get made. I think it's like the Hawley Doom, BKV Silver Surfer, & Bendis Kitty projects Fox has cooking (except that those films actually sound good), where they don't expect them to get made but still want that option, just in case. But, the prospect that it might actually happen is... *shudder*
After sitting on that Joker teaser for a bit, I actually think it is really rad. I think the idea of having different possible Joker origins without a definitive one is interesting. It could be anybody.
What's wrong with the Joker and Harley movie? No one liked Mad Love? I thought that was a classic Batman story.
yeah I love how involved Margot is with Birds Of Prey, and the cast looks like it could be great I want Jared Leto to go away though
I mean, people still view Killing Joke & Identity Crisis as classic, and they're awful, lol. Mad Love isn't that bad, but it's...messy. The right creative team could build off that foundation and make a nuanced look at abusive relationships not unlike Guardians 2. Based on how Suicide Squad treated them, though, plus these comments on the script... Eek. Sounds like a trashy, jokey, romanticized take on abusive relationships.
I never got the Killing Joke love, but........Identity Crisis as awful... oh wow. That is a super hot take. That's the comic I showed my wife to show her how compelling, dramatic and emotional comic books could be. That ending with the Atom saying "he never has felt so small" still gets me.
I'm trying to wrap my head around someone using Identity Crisis to show his wife she should read comics... That whole rape and murder plot was so emblematic of what makes edgy grim-dark comics by men so awful.
