Ben Affleck's awesome test footage of Deathstroke came up in a facebook memory from last year. Sad that its no longer happening and instead we are rightfully making jokes of a Harley Quinn JL Dark before we even have a Batman lol.
I mean, with Scorsese behind the project, its definitely not going to reflect the character we saw in Suicide Squad. The guy has a style that suits the character more in line with Snyder's version. Who the hell knows though.
I'm commenting on the tweet more so than the details of the project. "Super dark and real" is just about the corniest and stupidest way to describe something, lol. It reminds me of everything I hate about Joker's fanbase. But, yeah, while I'm sick of all iterations of Joker in general, this particular project is in some ways one of the most intriguing comic book films in development. It's just so weird. I don't think Scorsese producing this means anything, just like Nolan producing Snyder's films didn't mean much, but while I'll be sitting this project out, I do think stuff like this, Sony's non-MCU projects (which I stan hard for), and whatever Noah Hawley is doing with Doctor Doom could end up being just what comic book films need.
JLD getting a re-write from Gerard Johnstone doesn't make me any more or less excited. I like Housebound, which is his only film credit, but that doesn't seem like enough to base any expectations off of.
17:30 has a pretty good back and forth conversion about the Joker movie from a huge DC fan boy and someone who just likes good movies.
If they're really gonna try to make it feel like a Scorsese movie, that's a tad more encouraging. I'm curious who they're going to cast. Since they seem dead set on doing an origin movie, I feel like a no-name (or at least a lesser-known) actor would be the most compelling, but I don't know how willing DC/WB is to gamble on that.
Titans digital series will star Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) as Nightwing. Sounds like they are looking to cast Raven, Starfire, Hawk and Dove as well. `
As much as I dislike the idea of a Joker origin story, I'd be the first in line if this happens. Warner Bros. Eyeing Leonardo DiCaprio For THE JOKER Origin Story; Jared Leto Unhappy With Studio's Plans
DC probably saw Sony get Tom Hardy for Venom and thought, "Hey, maybe we should try to get a great actor for a standalone film centered on a popular villain, too!" Though, the Tom Hardy Venom film makes more sense, and Venom in general is a much better character than Joker. But, hey, the best thing about this Joker film is that it doesn't really make sense, so whatever. Get a talented actor no one would expect and just go wild with this thing. Make it a weird film with no interest in adhering to anything in the Joker mythos.
So they're leaning towards the opposite of what I proposed haha. I guess if you're gonna go for a well-known actor, go big!
I would love to see Leto get another chance at the Joker since we only got like 15 mins maybe of him.
Cena, Sasse rumored to be frontrunners for the Billy Batson/Shazam role Yes. We need Cena vs. The Rock in the superhero world too.
Oh man, superhero John Cena vs supervillain The Rock would be just wild. Make it happen and let them both really ham it up with as much scenery-chewing bravado as they can muster. Go full 80s Saturday morning cartoon.
