It really shouldn't have been this hard. Remember their plan and movie's slated out? The DCUE needs a behind the scenes documentary for sure.
This whole DCCU is such a mess. If the movies are good, who cares how they got there, of course, but it just seems like they're stumbling along. I just want them to eventually make a good Green Lantern movie :(
I'm sad we won't really get what was originally planned with them. Remember the Kevin Smith and Geoff Johns WB special announcing all these movies leading up to BvS? I wish we were getting all that still.
Given how crappy the DCEU movies have been, I'm totally fine with them just scrapping the whole thing and going a different route. I'm totally fine with different people playing Batman. I'd love a big superhero-y Batman film and a noir-ish detective Batman film. I'd be fine if they just focus on putting out cool and unique movies that are true to the characters. Edit: But that's always been my approach to continuity in comic books, as well. I don't need Batman to show up in my Superman book.
At this point they should make Flashpoint their only priority, and use that to softreboot the storylines. As much as I want to see more of Batfleck is he's out, use it to start a new younger actor. Keep Gal, and whatever else needs to stay. All this shit breaks my heart. DCs stories and characters are so much better than marvel.
Using Flashpoint as a reboot sounds like a terrible idea, lol. Please no. If that movie happens, make it a character-driven story that just happens to use wild time travel spectacle. Don't be so dang slavish to continuity. The average viewer doesn't follow all that and care anyways. It's not like ambiguous continuity hurt Deadpool or Logan, and the latter even used some past films' details without caring about all the timeline specifics and whatnot. Honestly, films like Deadpool, Logan, Venom, etc. are the future of comic book films. The MCU worked because it was a new idea. That novelty doesn't have the same impact anymore. Marvel will continue to get away with it for the foreseeable future (unless Infinity War proves too big for general audiences), but Fox, Sony, and DC are gonna find more successes when they create more standalone projects with personalities outside of what Kevin Feige is putting out.
Not every DC movie needs to have cameos from other characters, or even touch upon the other films in the DCEU. I think we can all agree BvS took a swing and a miss with that. I think Wonder Woman handles this perfectly. I think not using the characters developed in some of DCs giant crossover storylines in a cinematic universe is a waste.
We disagree a ton, but you honestly have great points here and you have turned my opinion. Now that I have thought about it for awhile, I am sort of over worrying about all this. I am just glad that JL and Aquaman were too far in development to change or cancel. The look of the characters, cast and feel of the world that Snyder set up is amazing and we get a few more movies like that at least.
I'm sure the execs at WB think young girls will rather see a movie about an abusive relationship than a team up of female villains. That JOKER AND HARLEY QUINN Movie Is Reportedly Replacing GOTHAM CITY SIRENS
I think Marvel is the only studio that should do the cinematic route of solo, solo, solo, team up 1, solo 2, solo 2, solo 2, team up 2, solo 3, solo 3, solo3, team up 3, etc.. It takes too long to do that and I don't think audiences are willing to go through it again. The MCU is enough.
According to Batman News, Hollywood Reporter describes it as “an insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine.” Sounds horrible.
this harley quinn cinematic universe is all going to culminate in an orphan black-like movie of margot robbie playing six different versions of the character in a justice league made entirely of harleys
