Could be waiting until they officially bring him back from being killed in BvS? That's my only guess really.
I like what Vaughn brings to the table as a director, but I'm not sure that's what audiences want from a Superman movie, especially given the backlash to how his character has been handled thus far in the DCEU.
I don't know.... he does balance comedy, action and heartfelt moments very well. Just because he did Kick Ass and Kingsmen, doesn't mean that's the tone his Superman would be....... His X Men film didn't have that over the top tone and was one of the best X Films for sure.
The Joker Origin Story On Deck: Todd Phillips, Scott Silver, Martin Scorsese Aboard WB/DC Film Pretty much all in the title there - Todd Phillips will co-write and direct a Joker origin movie, Scorsese is producing. Also of note: Maybe an Elseworlds banner of sorts?
Martin Scorsese saw my post about wanting visionary auteurs to make comic book movies Marty I was kidding devote your time to something worthwhile
Thank god. But this is the second time I spaced and didn't bother reading the article before commenting today, so shame on me.
Don't think anything is going to be part of a DCEU after Justice League. "According to the trade, this Joker origin movie will be the first of a new series of live-action DC films under a new unnamed banner in which “WB can expand the canon of DC properties and create unique storylines with different actors playing the iconic characters. In other words, they are moving away from having one singular DC Comics cinematic universe, just making DC films and not worrying about continuity. In fact, there could end up with different actors playing different versions of the same DC character in totally separate and unrelated films."
This is so random. WB keeps dropping news of the most random movies they are trying to launch. I don't understand when we can't even get a flash, Batman or Green Lantern going first why you would do Gotham City Sirens, Black Atom, Batgirl and Joker..... On another hand, before the DCEU there were a ton of good stand alone DC movies and it may be nice to go back to that.
lol at anyone putting Batgirl in the same breath of weird choices as Black Atom. What a dummy. Making a Batgirl film is a no-brainer and one of their best decisions. Their only mistake is Whedon's involvement. Anyways, a Joker film sounds absolutely dreadful, but DC considering weird standalone projects is cool if true. Give me All-Star Superman, Kingdom Come, Batman Beyond, Superman: Secret Identity, etc. A period piece version of New Frontier would easily be the best DC film of all time.
A dummy huh? Well you have to remember that most of the world aren't into comics so to 98% percent of people, yes a Batgirl movie before comic icons is just a weird as Black Atom or Joker. The Joker is even more well known and loved in pop culture as Batgirl so I think the general public would be more excited for it. Whedon is a fantastic director so his involvement is nothing but good. This statement reads more of comic book fan biased then logic. Kingdom Come, Batman Beyond or any of the crisis stories would be nuts to see one offs of those.
