I agree the Spideys worked, but Tobey and Andrew were established already with multiple films under their belt and Tom had a few films already as well. I don’t think brave & bold has a release date yet but it can’t be that far off from Batman II which was delayed to 2026. It’s just too close of projects where both Batman will both still be coming into their own.
I mean coming into his own as being connected with an audience. That Batman wouldn’t be established when it comes to story, actor, tone, etc. Marketing wise will be tricky too. Come watch this new Batman film, but it’s not connected to the Batman film that came out a couple years ago. Then the next Batman film that releases won’t be connected to the one you’re about to see. And with the multiverse fatigue from marvel they’ll probably want to let the audience know that these are separate Batman and are not multiverse films even though they’ll be releasing in an alternating pattern.
Yeah that makes even less sense to me then honestly. Superman is setting the tone for the DCU, so we’d already get an idea when that comes out. We basically know more about the story for the future Batman than we do for Pattinson’s sequel that comes first. I wouldn’t have a connection to the actor even if Reeves’ Batman didn’t exist. Don’t really see the point of limiting ourselves when we have both things. I’m personally not trying to wait 15 years for a DCU Batman just so Reeves can finish his trilogy first, which will be amazing regardless. We don’t exactly know how much time this planet has left for gods sake. So if it’s good, give it all to me.
Yeah I don't see a problem at all actually. Just tell us which are linked and which aren't and I'm good.
Didn't James Gunn said the Matt Reeves Batman films will be released under the DC Elseworlds banner as well as other DC films that's not part of the DCU?? I am sure he did! I mean it make sense.
My biggest problem with “DC Studios” Batman is that the director of The Flash seems to be still attached, which means I probably won’t watch it. No confidence in that mess. Matt Reeves’ The Batman series is great; I’m excited for James Gunn’s Superman; I’m happy to have them be separate projects that don’t overlap.
Here's a twitter thread from the q & a James Gunn did at NYC Comic Con and the answers from questions about the DCU
I’m really hoping Gunn is able to get the execution right for all of these projects. Can’t wait for the Superman trailer (I’m assuming it will be around Thanksgiving)
Love hearing this part especially: I’m very excited to see what they do with this new era of DC projects.
Is Crisis On Infinite Earths good? I was holding off until all three parts were on Max, and it seems like now they are
It’s like 15 seconds, but part 3 does have the last Kevin Conroy as Batman and it is fitting as his final performance of him.
What an easy “debunk,” lol. Clearly nonsense. Anyways, to those thinking about the character. Zatanna: Bring Down the House by Mariko Tamaki & Javier Rodríguez is a dope as fuck miniseries y’all should read. Absolute gorgeous art, some of the best in the entire modern superhero comic niche. (The last issue just came out this week, but I didn’t get a chance to read it yet.)
