Anytime someone cursed in The Killing Joke they really emphasized it to the point that it stood out hilariously. It was something like "go and get the BITCH".
Almost done with season one of Young Justice. Still so weird to me that Jesse McCartney is Robin in this.
Season 2 of Young Justice seems to start after quite a bit of a gap. Anyone know how much time was supposed to have passed between the seasons? And do the new team additions ever get explained or do they just go with it? I'm only 2 episodes into this season so far.
I forget how much time passes, but they explain it and it serves the story going forward really well. I do remember it taking a few eps to fill the audience in.
Yeah I continued through episode 4 and I think they mention 5 years passing, which makes a bit more sense now. Looking forward to getting through the rest in preparation for the new season.
Clip from Justice League Action. Premieres Dec 16 for anyone looking to watch this or get their kids into it. Justice League Action Premiere Date - ComingSoon.net
Has anyone here watched "The Batman" before? I'm a handful of episodes in but undecided on how I feel about it.
It's my least favorite out of all batman cartoons. Has it's moments but I feel like the animation works for some characters and doesn't for others.
If I had to rank all the batman cartoons (minus the JL ones) I'd go B:TAS >Batman Beyond>Beware the Batman>Brave and Bold>The Batman
I liked The Batman growing up but probably wouldn't enjoy revisiting it at all, lol. The poor show had the misfortune of following up a fantastic Batman series. I'll always have a soft spot for its Joker design. The worst Batman cartoon I ever tried to watch was definitely Beware the Batman. That animation style was... ew. Someday, I need to watch all of The Brave and the Bold. What I've seen is just flat out delightful.
I clearly have some catching up to do. I've only watched B:TAS, S:TAS, JL, JL Unlimited, and YJ. I've basically just been watching what's on Amazon/Netflix so far so I'll looks for those others.
Tim noooooooooooooooooooooooo. Beware is so good. Since you are the comic fan, I thought you'd like how they didn't go the route of using traditional villains and used deep cuts. I also think it has the best Alfred we've seen animated and it was cool for them to use Katana instead of a Robin. The series was cancelled before he turned into Two Face, but they actually had a who arc for Harvey who got his face burned right as the season ended, probably making his turn in the next season I assume they were planning. Sad I never got to see it play out. You should give it a chance, even though the animation takes a min to get used to. Brave and Bold is fun! A little on the kid side, but it has that Adam West style humor and the team ups are awesome! You've seen my favorites out of the whole DC animated series, B:TAS, JL Unlimited and YL so I think you are doing good
I never watched Beware but loved the fact that Professor Pyg was involved because I love that character.
I dunno, besides the ears I think it looks pretty cool for an all CGI tv show. And the first ep opens with that awesome fight where batman gets his shoulder dislocated and he slams it into a car to pop it back into place. So badass.
I totally forgot that Justice League Action premiered! I have it set to tape now though but hopefully I can catch up on the ones I've missed. There is one ep on demand that I watched though, and overall it's pretty good. The cast of characters is awesome, the animation is kinda hit or miss though with the characters. I like how it's aimed in the middle for kids and adults so I can watch this with my kids, unlike most of the DC animated stuff released in the last few years.
Finished up The Batman. It definitely grew on me, especially once they added Robin and Batgirl. Watched Son of Batman yesterday and watching Justice League: War now. Both have been good, but does anyone know why Jason O'Mara took over as Batman instead of bringing Kevin Conroy back? Also, I never did check out Justice League Action yet. Gotta do that soon since I've been hearing good things about it.
You gotta watch Beware the Batman next! War is so good, but I disliked Son of Batman quite a bit. I think they did the voice actor change to separate the films from the Bruce Timm Animated universe. He does a well enough job, but Conory is the best for sure. All the movies from War on all exist in the same universe I believe is what they are going for.
I'll look around for Beware the Batman. I've been tackling the stuff available on Netflix and Amazon Prime first. Ah okay. It's just weird since he's in Agents of Shield now too haha. I saw Conroy did like one JL movie. Doom I think? So I wasn't too sure what the reasoning was. Thanks!
Yeah, I think Doom is just its own thing. I loved that the whole cast from the JL show came back to voice their characters. One of the reason I was so disappointed that it was bad The animation from Young Justice was a nice touch too, all the more reason I am bummed it was eh. I dunno if Beware is on Netflix. I only has 1 season and has been off air for awhile. I'd Netflix/Prime they pick it up soon if they haven't already.
That's a bummer. I'll likely watch it at some point just because I think a lot of their animated stuff has been better than the live action movies. Looks like Netflix just has The Batman. I know Prime has B:TAS but I haven't checked for anything else just yet.
A Constantine series was picked up for CW Seed. Safe to say he'll be showing up more often in the Bertverse.
I actually rewatched The Batman recently and really enjoyed it. They reuse certain villains, specifically penguin, way too much. but it was really cool how the show built the batfamily along the way from season 1 to 5 and finishing with him joining the JL. Brave and the Bold is fantastic. so much fun. and honestly Beware the Batman got better as it went on. I wish that got more than the one season. I never thought I'd say this, but the humpty dumpty episode is up there with the best of batman animated episodes.
