so excited for this, really happy it's still Matt Ryan. I loved the first season of the show and was so bummed it was cancelled.
Thank you all so much for the kiss cartoon link. I've now been reunited with the Mysterious Cities of Gold cartoon from my childhood. I know this is a DC thread (I'll also be using this site for those shows as well), but I highly recommend you watch the cities of gold, great storytelling that holds up outside of nostalgia. Great theme song too.
At best, The Killing Joke didn't need to exist. At worst, The Killing Joke was sexist garbage that exacerbates the worst parts of TKJ.
ugh, The Killing Joke. I wanted to like it. I left the theatre being like, that was pretty good, but no. the more it resonated and the less I lied to myself, it just wasn't good. the added opening was nonsense. the "purpose" was supposedly to give some more weight to batgirl's story so that she wasn't just a sexist plot device, but instead, it made her storyline even worse! huge disservice to her character. I will say there were good moments, but overall I was let down and won't watch it again.
I'm doing the B&N buy 2 DC/Marvel trades get 1 free thing one more time before it expires. I'm interested in picking up some DC stuff since I have MU, and I'm thinking I'd like a good Green Arrow story (will be my first), maybe some good Teen Titans (only have Kids Game which I love), and maybe a good JSA, JLA, WW, or Flash book. I'm pretty much set with Batman and Superman stuff for the time being. Any ideas?
If you wanna get a big hardcover, get Legend of the Wonder Woman. If not, get the New 52 Wonder Woman vol. 1. For Flash, also get New 52 vol. 1.
I started my whole intro into DC with Green Arrow: Quiver by Kevin Smith. Its still one of my favorites, it features the whole Justice League and deals with bringing GA back (he died in the 80s I think). Its a nice jumping on point since I didn't know anything and wasn't lost.
The last ep of JL Action I saw had Batman, WW, Sups, Green Arrow, Constantine, Swamp Thing and Plastic Man fighting Black Atom and some demons he summoned. What a time we live in.
Teen Titans: Judas Contract Movie Adds Christina Ricci and Miguel Ferrer as Terra and Deathstroke Had no idea they were doing this! So excited! I remember back when DC first starting doing the annually animated films starting with Superman: Doomsday, this was on the slate for one of the next ones but kept getting delayed.
I don't know who has seen JL Dark but it is awesome. Everything I love about DC, being a dark serious story without feeling like it's trying too hard be violent and edgy. Nailed all the characters and they did a nice job at an easy introduction to them for people who don't know the JL Dark Crew. Justice League Action just keeps getting better as well. Just saw the latest Ep where Lobo grabs Superman by the leg and uses his body to beat Hawkman. Kids are so lucky these days.
Justice League Dark is amazing. And if Matt Ryan is playing Constantine here, and the seperate animated continuity of the CW Seed Constantine show, they might as well bring him in full time as the WaveRiders resident bad add magic user.
Yeah, I'd say she is 2nd lead (Constantine is first) along with Batman. Everyone gets their moments though. I liked the eps of Unlimited with Zee in them, it was just never enough!
Yeah it was a series they had before New 52 and didn't carry over into the relaunch. Written by Paul Dini so you really can't go wrong
That's the truth! Shame he isn't on a regular ongoing title but I guess he's earned to be able to just kind of do whatever he wants.
Glad to hear a couple people here like it. The trailers and clips I've seen haven't hyped me up really. Hopefully I'll get around to watching it next week.
