i highly recommend going through his catalog and reading along with every bowiesongs entry: Pushing Ahead of the Dame

Just saw Moonage Daydream in IMAX and hot damn that’s required viewing. Just stunning. Can anyone give me a quick primer on his ‘90s albums? I find that I know just about nothing about anything between Tonight and The Next Day
Earthling and Heathen are the best ones from that era, imo. Heathen especially is underrated, it’s kind of his sobering post 9/11 album, but also kind of a prelude to what he would do on Next Day ten years later
this is gonna prove my bowie fandom/absolute unhinged behavior: black tie white noise - beautiful album, some of his most soulful vocals. mike garson's piano throughout is so so wild. "the wedding song" is incredibly good. the buddha of suburbia - insufferable album. a career worst. do not listen. outside - this album is fucking unhinged. it's so good. "im deranged" got its moment for inclusion in the lost highway soundtrack, but "hallo spaceboy" is one of his best post-80s. having eno back makes for such a cool pairing. earthling - i like this album a lot but you can tell it's him leaning into a sound (industrial) that he doesn't fully believe in. not surprisingly, Reznor does a better version of some of these songs. still some cool stuff. "im afraid of americans" riff rocks. hours - some cool stuff. not my favorite overall, but it's a bit of a return to his older sound. "survive" is probably my favorite here. second least-favorite of this group but not second-least overall. heathen - best of this group. my spiciest bowie take is this is top 5 overall. "sunday" is an INCREDIBLE song. the "cactus" cover rocks too. some of his most soulful and artistic stuff since the 70s. highly recommend. reality - probably my least listened to here. some cool stuff but it's a minor work. i like "bring me the disco king" a lot lol.
Outside is one of the craziest fucking albums you'll ever hear. it's like Station to Station on crack meets Blade Runner and Twin Peaks, with a bit of the Nine Inch Nails influence starting to creep in that would become evident on Earthling can't say it's for everyone haha but ithas 4-5 of my favourite Bowie tracks
The doc was fantastic! I knew I was in for a treat once hallo spaceboy started playing. Masterful editing, gets you more in Bowie’s mind. I wished there was a series of these with more concert footage, song remixes, quotes and Bowie art but this was a gift to get regardless
