I was on vacation so I fell two episodes behind but wow both of these recent two were great, especially the Rubin one. That dream sequence actually really worked for me in trying to satirize the modern hip hop landscape (Dave "consuming" the black man to serve it to the kids representing him as a white person succeeding in a black art form, the fratty white kids comparing it to other rappers and then immediately demanding more, etc.)

It genuinely made me jump when the guy suddenly yelled at Dave and scared him

 

He plays a one legged houseless dude in an episode of Those Who Can’t, he’s great in that too.

 

Caught up today, really digging the season which continues to surprise me considering Dave is the most unlikeable main character I've ever seen. Not a redeeming quality to him.

 

Well I don't agree with that, there's so many worse. Anyone on Sunny? Michael Scott? I could go on

 

Those characters still have some weird charm to them despite being shitty people. Dave is just a prick

Amazing. I was really really really hoping that would happen and damn it brought a tear to my eye

 

this show has no right to be as good as it is. they just kept raising the bar the whole season, and that finale was just superb.

 

Yeah I fully agree with the talk that Dave is an extremely unlikeable protagonist but that ending really gave him (as a character) some good will, I loved that

I keep repeating it in here but Gata is a fucking phenomenal actor, the argument scene and especially when he had tears in his eyes and the look on his face when he was rising up to the stage really got me


This show is just really good, and this season was even better than the first. I actually really want him to drop an album of the songs from the show too and I usually don't even like his music

 

That was a proper finale. I did well up a little

Gata has been shit on the whole way through and it feels like he’s the one who’s going to elevate Dave to where he wants to be

 

Man, what a fucking ending.


Any word on S3?

 

I am sure there will be a season 3, this thing is a mega-hit for FX

 

I didn't realize it was, hardly anyone I know has heard of LD/Dave.

Great finale. Would love an accompanying soundtrack, some of the snippets from the VMA rehearsal are solid!
