Know people are talking about this in other spots. Figured I’d make a thread. On ep 2 now. This is good! I hear it gets much better
For full disclosure: Lil Dicky had that horrible song with Chris Brown, which is inexcusable, and an even worse early career in which he gloated about his white privilege and said a bunch of dumb shit. I hope he’s grown up since then. fully okay for everyone to shit on him and to choose not to watch this Edit: fuck, Scooter Braun is also a producer on this
Show was awesome. Gata is the MVP of the whole thing and actually part of Lil Dicky’s crew, which was cool to find out.
I watched it this week, I really enjoyed it but didn’t really care for Lil Dicky. Thought he was just an irritating character. I don’t listen to his music or really know anything about it, don’t know if that helped or hurt.
Had no idea this was a real hip hop artist. Lol. binged the hell out of it though, and yeah episode 5 got really real
I don't like Lil Dicky as a musical artist at all but I watched this just because I wanted a new show about rap and agreed it's way better than expected. Whole cast is great (really cool to see Taco get a major acting role like this), and it's pretty funny and genuinely pretty profound at certain points too. Only complaint is that Dave himself is genuinely unlikable for a good portion of the show, particularly in the second half. I know it was intentional because he's becoming more arrogant but I think it went farther for me than they intended it to
Yeah this was actually super enjoyable. I’ve never been a Lil Dicky fan and I’m sure things will stay that way, but I’m here for Dave Burd and the rest of the cast. I love that FX is always willing to put out these shows that’ll pop on the surface but are also willing to experiment with their themes and production. Tons of shows cannot pull off just not including the main character for basically an entire episode
Dave/Dicky is kind of fascinating. I loved his show, I find him incredibly irritating...but I also kind of want to keep watching? Like when I see a youtube rec of something he's in, I tend to click it. I'll be entertained but also like ugh, this dude is annoying. Good for him, I guess?
watched this entire series this past week after having no idea who Lil Dicky was or the show. I enjoyed it, but very slow for episodes at a time. Gata is the best. The Jail episode was by far my favorite.
Just finished this after I stumbled on it randomly. I really enjoyed it. Very well done. Looking forward to season 2
