I tried listening to Alter the ending once or twice and could nnever get into it. Dusk and Summer and AMAMABAS are much better IMO

Yeah, Butch Walker and Adam Schlesinger (RIP) covering those songs arena rock grandeur and candy-coated pop bliss is definitely not my idea of overproduced. Maybe the best sounding Dashboard album, for my money.

Blame It On The Changes is probably my favorite Dashboard song. Belle of the Boulevard, Until Morning, Alter The Ending. So good.

All this talk has had me diving into their discography the past few days. I need to revise my rankings and rank Alter higher than Shadows.

Still crazy to me how big a drop off Dashboard had in popularity and how quickly it happened. When touring AMAMABAS I saw them headline and sell out a 19k venue. Then for the Dusk & Summer, the album hit number 1, had two Top 40 hits, and the massive tour for it hit NYC TWICE, first at Radio City Music Hall and then again at Madison Square Garden -two of the most iconic venues in the world.

And then just 3 years later with Alter the Ending, the album barely debuted in the top 20, Belle of the Boulevard didnt even chart, and the tour hit a 2k cap venue. And I see the newest album didnt chart at all. Looking at their Spotify page they only have half the monthly listeners as some of their contemporaries, artists who never reached the highs DC did.

I wonder why the nostalgia bug never really latched on to Dashboard the way it has for other bands from that era.

I remember their subreddit was also pretty quiet for a band of their stature releasing a solid throwback record.

They are coming back to the UK this year, supporting Funeral for a Friend, who are playing “Casually Dressed..” in full. So that’s a combo I’d love!

I know he’s barely played anything from the new album, which is great, on his headline tours. So no chance we get anything from a support slot.

However the concept of him closing out with “Hands Down” and then FFAF’s “Casually..” set is something my 16 year old self would die for.

Oh I’ve listened to it loads since it came out. I more meant I’d be gutted as it’s unlikely he will play any of it in a support set (as he barely played anything from it on headlines)

Yea, honestly, I want a proper tour for that album. I mean if he did 6-8, it would still leave half the set for the older stuff.

Hard to justify seeing them since I’m not a CC fan. Probably the same 10-12 song set he’s been playing for the past 2 years.

Honestly, my thought, as well. Probably similar to the Hello Gone Days tour. If the price is right I’ll buy a ticket this week. If not, I’ll wait and risk it selling out until I can see a setlist

Playing some "middle of nowhere" shows on this tour. Selbyville DE isn't exactly Dashboard/Counting Crows territory

  17. Them playing the wineries in Woodinville, WA like all of the casino circuit/legacy acts instead of Seattle proper makes me feel so much older than I did yesterday.

So I didn't go to this, but a few months ago they added a show at Bottle and Cork in Dewey Beach (not very far from Selbyville, so not sure why they added it other than because they wanted to play Bottle and Cork as it is somewhat a famous venue), so we went to that. It's a rock and roll bar, I'd say "smaller" but that's relative to the venues they usually play I think haha. But it was an awesome show! He said it was the only headlining show they were doing this year so they took advantage of it and played some songs they don't usually play these days.
