I will have to check one of those out to see how they compare to the live ones I’ve watched. Anyone know if Thursday’s Signals 2.0 was live or taped? That was great quality.
They probably recorded all 3 pretty close to each other, no? Maybe the same day? Aren't they wearing the same clothes?
Both have their place. As someone who's worked behind-the-scenes on both, I can say that I'm a little bummed whenever we pre-record and amazingly stressed whenever it's live. There is obviously still something electric about witnessing a live performance, and even basic interactions with a chat trigger an emotion that is so rare these days. But the pre-recorded version is an infinitely better product, and when this is a moment that an artist is trying to make a key part of their income for the month (or quarter, or longer) in a really uncertain time I appreciate that need. Also I definitely spotted Ruston Kelly's sister Abigail in that promo video! Wondering if Russ will make a cameo.
Meh, I had a blast watching NFG and TWY live streams. Don't think I would enjoy a pre-recorded stream as much.
Anyone else watching the stream? Also anyone else kind of annoyed by the effect on the vocals? Really hope it’s not like this the entire set.
I noticed it on Brilliant Dance but not for Letters. I just noticed there’s no drum set on that stage, was kinda hoping for a more lively set. Dig the camera production though
The first verse of Screaming Infidelities didn’t have it but then the rest of the song did. I’m finding it incredibly distracting. This chill set is kind of being ruined for me because of it.
I really liked that new song. yeah seems like whenever he hits a certain octave there’s an effect that makes it sound like his voice is layered
whatever it is wasn’t on for that song or now Dusk And Summer. Hopefully it stays off for more of the songs.
An ad for this stream popped up on my Facebook with a preview of them doing hands down and you could hear they touched up his vocals a ton. Confirmed that I would not be purchasing a ticket.
I dunno there are parts where I’m questioning if they touched up his voice, and then it gets to Belle of the Boulevard and he’s hitting wrong notes and voice cracking.
I've noticed that layering thing too and it's buggin' me just a bit, even though I'm very into this stream.
Yeah I ended up enjoying this. Got into the chill vibe of it, and I liked that the set spanned most of his discography.
The set was pretty much stuff I excepted with a couple exceptions like So Long, So Long. that vocal effect bugged the shit out of me.
I can not get over the obvious use of multiple takes a song. This was poorly edited but god damn did I love it
I just realized they didn't Swiss Army Romance or Saints and Sailors. I think I've gone to a dozen Dashboard shows in my life, and never not heard those in the set. Glad he played Just What To Say, though. A passed over gem on an otherwise forgettable album. Been on a DC kick all day now!
I liked the Bad Religions Decades live shows. Intercut some interview clips, it just showed how good they were live. Stylized shows can be cool too, but some times the live show/edit is a bit music video like where shot are 4 seconds or less and the graphics distract. New content is new content though, a d anything from bands are appreciated.
I kinda don’t think he doubled his vocals. I think his guitar mic picked up his louder notes. That mic probably has a light effect on it for guitar and it was giving that phased vocal effect. Any audio engineers have thoughts on that possibility?
